July 4th is fine, because that is a positive holiday, celebrating the Declaration of Independence. Releasing an album on September 11th, though, especially with a military theme, would be in bad taste.
The promo shots, the fact that she's now under LA Reid and the way she's been hyping it up on Twitter say enough. She and her team are obviously going for this huge, EPIC hype-building shtick. It's really a shame, since it'll do absolutely nothing for the girl.
Now ive never counted ciara out. Simply because shes never given me less than 5 hot songs on an LP. Shes such a sweet girl and shes always been treated unfairly. I really hope this era is planned and funded correctly because she has lots of potential. The biggest thing is she hasnt defined herself. Nothing about her is hers. The public doesnt know her for any one thing. What do we need her for? I hope her label zeros in on that. Beyonces thing is being perfect. Rihannas thing is being ratchet and trendy and fashionable. Keshas thing is being dirty. Gagas thing is exploiting gay people and wearing crazy outfits. Aaliyahs thing was her veil of mystery. The hair over the eye. The sunglasses, the baggy clothes at a point. What defines ciara. She reminds us of so many people. Janet at times, aaliyah at others, neo of the matrix, strippers in atlanta. Its just a mess. Ive typed all this just to say. I wish this girl all the best and i hope the material is right and she has a defining era that brings her the success that fantasy ride and basic instinct didnt. If nott, theyre all gonna laugh at her. Some more. Because no one is here for her besides the people who are here for her. And thats very few people. She needs to make the world know her name. The people in atlanta already do. Take the focus off of them.
