You can like "Call Me Maybe", there's nothing wrong with that. But if you gonna argue that this song is good, quality wise, then you'll be wrong. That's off the opinion subject, that enter the facts subject.

I'm not trying to argue, but what about it is not quality? I just don't know the difference.
I mean, I think it does what it's supposed to. People play it on the radio because that's what most people who listen to those radio stations want to hear.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates that atrocious song.

@larouxofficial oh my god you're on the radio all the time stop acting like you're an INDIE QUEEN.
La Roux @larouxofficial
@CrystalCougar woah I so don't think that. I'm pop through and through. Don't mistake me. I want MORE pop music, just not like this.

Ahh my friend Jami said this to her this morning, I can't.

On a note related to what she's ranting about : I think what really sucks is just the lack of diversity (which actually is getting better with the success of Adele, STIYTK<- , and we are young) and the fact that the #1 songs are played hour after hour. They should be playing more rock on top 40 stations, and adult contemporary, etc. Mix it up. Have the mainstream be a reflection of all the music currently being made.

Utter tripe. Through and through.
Music is subjective. If I think a song is good, quality wise, then that's my opinion. A factual statement in music is "this song has synths" or "this song features drums". Stataments such as "this song is great" are opinions.
As for La Roux, I have no respect for artists who behave like that. It's so disrespectful.

@larouxofficial Thoughts on Gaga?
La Roux @larouxofficial Close
@Fanradar I liked paparazzi, telephone and bad romance. The productions not quite my thing but I respect what she does. Its not disposable.

But who said that radios should only play that type of song? Who said that if you want your music to get radio play you have to make somehing "easy" and "boring"? That's the sick deal about the music industry, why can't they support people who make good music (quality wise)? People these days are so used with the whole pop suffocation, that sometimes they het closed to other to other sounds. And that's Elly's point.

But her music didn't get the radio attention because it's generic, it had quality and that's why people appreciated.

If music is so subjective, why do we have critics and awards? Why we respect when an artist gets fantastic reviews and lots of Grammys? That's only a couple of people's opinions too, why their opinion matters more than mine or yours?

You didn't answer my question.
Radio stations are businesses. They play music that will get people to listen to them so that they'll get more money. That's why they hop on the latest trends like STIUTK. They are going to gain more listeners and fans by playing Call Me Maybe four times an hour than if they played Bjork four times an hour.
Furthermore, Carly Rae Jepsen didn't aim to put out an "easy" or "boring" song... you say that like people intentionally go for that. That's your opinion if you think the song is boring. Some people love it. People like her and Pitbull and LMFAO work hard to put out music they think people will like. You have no right to condemn other people for the music they like. You can express your dislike for it and are free to have your own preferences in music but you can't state what "good" music is like there's a cut and dry answer.

Exactly. I mean, you've seen the kind of hate that fun and Gotye have been getting on here lately...

uhmm why do critics have different views on albums, tracks, videos? because music is subjective, we all have different views about it. and please critics earned their way to get their spot right now and its actually their job..so yeah..

They are indeed businesses, but smart and manipulative. They declared that the good music, the radio music, should be the way the planned, and radios follows them, and consequently we do too.
Sorry but her music IS boring and easy, the lyrics and production are the biggest prove. Like I said, you're a free to like the song, sing along and have it on your iPod, but you can't claim more than that about it.
