depend on what she wants to do. Personally, when she gets older, I picture her out of the music industry on her own will, and still doing big things, but more of like a charity person, or foundation starter, or something along those lines. Something to help out other people.

I'm not sure why people are so doubtful. It's clear how passionate Gaga is about music and given the work ethic she has, it seems like she will be making music for as long as she wants to. Her popularity isn't dying down either. She's just part of the group now rather than "the new girl." Her singles not selling at the ridiculous heights they used to (her only mega smashes are the first few singles of an era anyway) doesn't mean much in the long run when she's selling out stadiums.

Well that's the thing. There's really no black and white answer to that. It's too early to predict because eventually, the abnormal and shocking will be the normal, so the shock value will go away. What is the trend right now will be the thing of the past eventually. It's all about evolution as an artist. If Gaga keeps being Gaga that we know of, the hype about her will go away. Don't put the success she's having now as an indication of her future. Today is the present, focus on long term. The Backstreet boys had the same amount of success that Lady Gaga is having now with the touring power, popularity, but they only lasted 5 years, about.

actually Madonnas career was going well into cyndi lauper popped in. madonnas debut album had a one or two hits, then cyndi came with Shes so Unusual and madonna was out of the picture for a while, until live a virgin came out, and madonna exploded. and cyndi just faded. idk its a pattern. just look at Katy Perry and Lady GaGa, but who knows u know?

I feel as though Gaga's fan base is so solid and powerful, that the opportunity for her to last is definite. I don't know if Gaga will get a top 10 hit at age of 50, but I do believe people are going to be here for her, if not just to see her live. I see Gaga becoming a major touring act (she already is), while not putting out chart toppers every decade. But maybe Gaga can do it all!

This is not something you can predict. Obviously Gaga wants to be in it for the long haul, but the question is whether the public will resonate with her image and music in the future. I see her outlasting the other pop girls of this generation, but levelling Madonna would be quite a challenge.
