I don't deny Britney's impact and pop culture and it would be stupid to argue that, but to say "OMG!!! Britney changed the music industry!!!111" is reaching for sunshine.
What exactly did she change about the music industry? Lip synching has been here and popular before she was even on the Mickey Mouse Club. Michael, Janet, Prince and many others were known for dancing before Britney Spears. So, what exactly did she change? If you're going to acknowledge her impact and success, acknowledge that. She didn't change the music industry. Today's music industry would still be the same with or without her.

1. She revolutionated the female situation in the recording music field.... before her even if Madonna, Janet or Mariah existed, males were the ones who still got the most recording contracts .... Britney openned doors for female pop stars and girls like Xtina, Jessica, Mandy got her contracts thanks to britney, and nowadays the music is led by females.
2. Britney revolutionated the sexuality in youth , before you can see Madonna expressing sexually but when Madonna was doing that she was already a grown up woman in her 30s , Britney was the first one to be brave and show security and sexuality at young age, it changed the whole thing , can you imagine how conservative and boring the world would be for youth these days?.
3. Before 2003 Madonna and Britney kiss , lesbianism wasn't extremely mainstream, yes there were some stars out of the closet, but still you didn't see commonly Girls singing on their songs they like to kissing girls, or reality tv shows about lesbians or bisexual relashionships, girls and stars playing with the lesbian topic, or basically every tv show and media playing with the lesbianism theme, that kiss influenced a lot (positively) on the lesbian perception.
4. Britney always marked pop tendencies, at first when she was a teenager, every young pop girl had to be like her, Xtina and Jessica , etc , lot of stars tried for years realeasing electropop songs but when Britney released "Toxic" you can tell how inmediatly the entire pop industry changed and everything was electropop/dance since then , "Blackout" was named the most inlfuential album in the past 5 years by rollingstone magazine, and now Britney used dubset, and now everyone in the pop industry wants to do the same, she is always been ahead from the bussiness, she is not a follower.
She was so powerfull and so controlling the industry that even singer "Pink" herself admitted in one of her songs "Don't let me get me" her label wanted to become her a "Britney" because that was the best in the industry.
She has influenced a lot in what pop music has been since she first came out, and now every new girl Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lana del Rey, Rihanna , Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, etc has nothing more to do than praise Britney Spears.
she's changed more cultural aspects and musical directions than you imagine.
