The lyrics are horrible but her vocals are even worse. She tried to give a wannabe Etta James vocal over a karaoke Prince production and FAILED. THE END. She sounded better singing Stay at 17 years old.
Countdown is CAMP SUPREME.... I mean anybody that likes Madonna and her kind is going to love it. Its straight up your alley.... I'm not here for that type of **** so unless I'm being silly and overtly gay at work, my opinion on the matter STANDS.

Girl, not the Etta book though, I will not disrespect the dead today.
I am camp and overtly gay so Countdown is perfect for me, and NO, that is not the only type of person who likes it. Some of the most straightforward, button down shirt wearing white men love Countdown.

Its interesting to me that Britney fans bash Beyonce for making a mature album. This is the type of album that Britney wants to make but refuses to because she knows that her fans wont allow her to do it without calling her "boring". She has grown up meaning her fans should have grown with her, how can someone advance if their own fans are holding them back because all they want to do is shake their asses to electropop beats?

I agree with most of this.
IWH is my least favorite, but it's still better than most of what the other girls have been doing. And RDY *****

I applaud Beyonce for growing up and making a mature album. I think that's great.
The problem with that, was how it was translated. I wasn't big fan of the sound and I felt the lyrics weren't that good. It was great she stuck to her sound: R&B/Soul. But, I didn't feel like she was emotionally invested into the songs and she didn't add much to it. I still love Beyonce though and I appreciate her hardwork.

I'm still not a fan.
But I haven't listened to the album since like, August/September.
I do lovee I Was Here though, I listened to it a couple of weeks ago. Still sounds great.

Well if you dont know her or follow her than I wouldnt expect you to know just how emotionally invested she was. If you havent seen Year Of 4, or Live At Roseland, or watched her talka bout 4 and how personal it is to her and her marriage/first child then you wouldnt know how connected she is to songs, even the uptempo ones like Countdown.

Maybe you're just used to the vapid, emotionally blank music we tend to get from our fave, but 4 is full of emotional investment.

I guess it really depends on the person. I didn't really feel anything from it.
And no, I'm not.

Same thing sis..... you kill me trying to use technical terms with Pop singers as if you just came out of a music theory class. Simple terms goes a long way with simple people.

Recently got into I Care. Some of the songs really took some time for me to REALLY get into it.

I was so underwhelmed with the album at first, but now I appreciate a large handful of the songs. So yes, it has gotten better with time for me.

Run The World was amazing.
I just wonder what prompted Bey to put 3 Run The World Remixes on it.
She's never done anything like that before.

They're not the same at all. And it's worth using the correct term if you deliberately wanted to point the inspiration behind it (and it's not Mariah, that's for sure). But you go ahead and do you.

i can understand if the music isn't ur taste, but how can u say there's a lack of emotional investment. Slant basically bashed it & yet they felt it got across the idea of Beyoncé wanting to get pregnant... we saw how that turned out.
Even songs like Countdown that aren't emotional ballads are filled with lyrical references to Beyoncé & Jay-z. & Beyoncé's vocals make the album considering that the main focus isn't the production. But at least you appreciate her hard work.

I actually do follow her since B'Day. And been a fan of hers ever since. I've watched "Year Of 4" but I have yet to watch "Live At Roseland". And I know that she talked and discussed what the album meant to her. It's just it didn't really translate that way in "4" from my point of view. I didn't feel it.
But I guess it's different strokes for different folks.

Yes, lets let Etta's wig rest in peace.
Those same white men raved about Ray Of Light being some iconic Pop album when its nothing more than pretentious oatmeal being served by Wolfgang Puck. Its still boring as hell no matter how good the chef is.
I wasn't implying that you had to be gay to like it.... I was just using me being silly and being overtly gay with my co-workers as a base of when a song like that would appeal to me. Sorry if it came across wrong.
