It's something I don't think she'll ever be able to capture again. She'll probably continue down the path she's on and eventually become an underground act with a cult following.

Her dream of being like Grace Jones will be fully realized ![cries](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/45ab1e3e.gif)

She isn't Katy or Rihanna who's going to just go to Dr Luke or Stargate and ask for a hit and it will have nothing to do with her as a person/artist. And what's been going on in Gaga's head has been very disconcerting...I don't see her changing her train of thought about herself and her "art." So I think her subsequent records will suffer even more b/c she won't have massive eras like TF/TFM to boost them.

I can't see her going even further with the preachy stuff after BTW era ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif) I'm sure she knows she'll HAVE to tone things down for her next album.
I'd like her to release a more intimate album, with simpler themes (by simpler I don't mean partying, drinking, ***** popping or anything like that), but with real pop music appeal.
I'll just wait and see. This bitch is not dumb, I'm sure of that. ![Alexz 2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/alexz2_zps7d3bf068.gif)

I'm not bothered by the fact that she evolved. BR was evolution from JD and it was just fine. I'm bothered by how she evolved.

That's not what I said or quoted at all.
You said she was fun, fashionable and hip. Those are things that die quickly. Lady Gaga will always be a product; she created herself to be so. However, there's no way to remain a hip product that pleases everyone. Trends like that always die. Always.
I'm just referring to the problem that lies in how you always criticize her short and dying shelf life, but the only thing you can ever seem to praise is the period of her fame when she conformed to the idea of a short and dying shelf life. When she showed she was dedicated to becoming something more and breaking free from the constraints of what people wanted out of her, you dropped her and began reminiscing in her pretty package days.

He did talk about how album sales are down but with the digital age the potential for greater overall record sales is there, which makes me think he would have been referring to records, if anything.

If she broke away from what people wanted from her then how exactly is that going to prolong her shelf life?

Did you hear the 30m figure thrown out in there? What time mark is it at? ![huh?](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/7be5c36a.gif)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: with BTW, Gaga tried to make herself out to be a popstar who can be "something more," who is above "confirming to the idea of a short and dying popstar shelf life."
She failed.
So I'd rather have her be the "conforming popstar" who knows her limits, like Britney (but with a little more artistic ambition, sorry Britney fans ![sorry](images/smilies/images/smilies/sorry.gif) ).
I'll take a fun romcom that's well-made and knows what it is any day over a misfire Oscar wannabe. ![Alexz 2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/alexz2_zps7d3bf068.gif)

Lol, by what measure? Reviews? Global album sales that are better than all her peers bar Adele right now? Diminished impact/popularity is not tantamount to failure, especially after such a huge debut.

God dammit this isn't the ****ing interview. I'll have to continue my quest to find it.
It's all over Forbes...if that helps. ![too funny](images/smilies/images/smilies/priceless.gif)

I'm trying, but I can't understand, what they're gaining by lingering around the very-same-woman they're criticising against.
Surely there's better things to do as the voice of ones opinion is having no affect what-so-ever.
I mean, why should it? It's millions of happy customers vs. 1 or 2 unhappy customers.

Almost hater-fans. Very bizarre.

The only reason BTW did so well is b/c THE FAME + THE FAME MONSTER made her the biggest global pop culture phenomenon in yearsssssssss.

Anyway, this is going to get me banned. Good for Gaga, good for Bennett, I look forward to their collab b/c her live jazz covers have been great.

She didn't fail by fact, she can only fail by ones opinion.
Her impact was nowhere near as big as TFM, but that can be said for a lot of pop-stars.
Not everyone continuously rises in fame as each era/album progresses - especially one that is at breaking point.

Well, yes. Gaga has accumulated an impressive fan base. When the tour comes around, I can promise there will be no evidence that Gaga is 'slipping.' The album has been out less than six months, and people are worrying because she's sold 4 million with one flop single + two hits?
Granted, her decisions lately have made me wonder. The Edge of Glory could have been much bigger had she not ****ed her own video with her ego. Still, I do think Gaga is at a point in her career where she actually can afford these type of mistakes. Do you think people are going to look back and say "Lady Gaga's third album proved to be a modest hit, selling 5 million copies worldwide." Especially when she is doing better than basically everyone, except Adele?

Isn't that also the reason it could be regarded as a failure? What's most disappointing about this era for me, is that in her quest to become something more than just a popstar, she has cemented her status as such. She went from a position where she was miles ahead of her rivals, to being over-shadowed by them. BTW is a failure because with its release marked the end of Lady GaGa as a pop culture phenomenon. Her career is by no means over, but she'll never reach those heights again. She's just another girl the industry churned out.

Absolutely. Gaga stans know as well as we do that when she declared that the album of the decade featuring the anthem of our generation was coming, she didn't think a UK import or some bitch dressed up as 7th grader in braces would effortlessly mop the floor with her.
I don't think her career is over either. I've never said that. I said BTW would end her time at the top, and that turned out to be true.
