Good for the music industry. Although they should put an asterisk to her name. When this kind of sales tactics becomes a norm-then remove it. Also this:
Wait a second, the retailer-by-retailer estimates in this article add up to 1,155,000, and that doesn't include sales from the non-traditional retailers OR non-sale Amazon days
I have a feeling Amazon will do a sale again this weekend. the numbers born this way is doing are huge for an almost irrelevant service like amazon mp3 so I won't be surprised if they want to sell more and more even at a loss

This is a big accomplishment for Gaga. Of course, it wouldn't be possible without this .99 cents deal, but it's still remarkable. I just hope the other girls don't copy this desperate move to sell more copies
Amazon pulled the "desperate move," sis. No "girls" were involved.
I doubt she'll hit Britney's 1.3mil in the first week but I am certain that there's no way Gaga will touch Diamond. The second or third week declines will be interesting.

I love how the pressed idiots aren't ready this:
On the first day alone, the album moved at least 500,000 units, with sources saying that first day sales at iTunes totaled 104,000 units; Best Buy, 45,000 units; Target, 35,000 units and Starbucks, 10,000 units. Consequently, industry prognosticators project that Best Buy will hit 200,000 units by the end of the SoundScan week on May 29; Target will reach 150,000; Wal-Mart will hit 125,000, and iTunes will hit 200,000 units.
What were the other nontraditional stores that Born This Way is being sold at? And is it being sold at ALL stores in that chain?
If it is being sold at all stores in those nontraditional chains, the sales could add up from them. If I had to guess, there must be around 19,000 rite aid, Walgreens, and CVS stores combined. I know that Rite Aid stores were only given 10 copies of the album (although it is possible that more were given to themlater in the week). If all 19,000 of the stores were given 10 copies, it is very possible that they could easily contribute anywhere from 75,000 to 125,000 additional sales.
It all depends though on how many of these stores received the small display case for the album... My numbers could be completely off, but if they're not, it could add a nice boost.
