When people talk about how Judas has underperformed, I think it stems from the buzz around the single its first week of release. The fact that Billboard wrote an article saying it was in competition for the top spot. The fact that it reached the top spot so quickly. While, I would never ever consider this song a flop. At this point, it will go down as one of Gaga's least successful singles if it continues to perform like it has up until now, which is why I think this article mentions that the song has had a disappointing performance, and it has. People expected this song to do way better. I, who don't even like the song or Gaga that much, expected more out of this song. So, while it's not the end of the world for Gaga at all. I think this song proves that not everything she touches is going to turn to gold. We haven't seen a flop single from her yet, so Judas is the closest we get to that with Gaga.

Also, a number 10 position for a second single off one of the most highly anticipated albums this year is not something to brag about.

The song itself is controversial and STILL doing well. Its not stalling if its gaining download sales and radio airplay.

Even if it's her worst performing single her run thus far is still incredible. Her lowest peaking single is #10 on the Hot 100.

If people didn't lack common sense...

It's obvious the reason it's not doing as well as it should is NOT because it's flopping. The song has remained in the top 20 on iTunes since it debuted, so it's obviously selling. However, with songs like RITD, ET, S&M, FU, etc. getting MASSIVE amounts of radio play, Judas is going to be overshadowed. I'm sick of people putting Beyonce and Gaga's singles together. Beyonce's single is behind Poker Face on iTunes. There are IN NO WAY even comparable.

Both ladies will still move album units, and rake in tons of money on tour while landing comfortable in the Top 5 on Forbes.

ATRL is too consumed by single artists. My faves are actually well rounded.

True, although Gaga & Bey both have history of being consistent w/ Album sales AND Single sales. Them having a bad single here & there doesn't change anything. If all of their singles flop this era I will agree with you.

People want Gaga and Beyoncé to flop so badly because they KNOW that they are baddest bitches in game! The ones that entertain like no other and doesn't follow trends...

I'm so proud of them... they can have flop singles and still sell out arenas and sold millions of albums and be respected for it... that's what matters! Rihanna and Katy can have the #1 singles...

Well, regarding GaGa it's not that big of a deal because judas was virtually blacklisted from most radio stations (too controversial lol)... There was never an issue of song quality.

Um Beyonce and GaGa are NOT going to sell a huge amount of albums if they don't get hit singles, primarily radio smashes.

Of course the first week sales will be fine, but without hit singles the albums will tank fast.

And #10 with only a few days (because of Froday release) to sell is NOT bad. If it had a full week, it would've debuted at #5-8.

I listen to Clear Channel stations & they always played Judas & it's still very high on their playlists.

Yes it did stall. And yes it did slide down 10 spots in three days.
And yeah, I agree with your second comment. Obviously there's nothing wrong with a single peaking inside the top 10. But what is surprising for people is that this is Gaga's single. And her second single at that. Coming right before an overly hyped album.
Obviously artists are going to have underperforming singles. Every artist will, and every artists has one. But to have one at such a crucial point in Gaga's career is surprising for people. Not saying that it's the end of her career at all though, just saying that Judas and TEOG have proven that Gaga isn't such a strong force in this industry as she was a year ago.
