"We can fake till we make it, we can make it ours."
Song: Jump by Kaptan
Why: Check out this song, guys! I think you'd like it. It's a fun little song & the vocal processing is so interesting for this dude's voice.

Katy B
"I wanna tell you, but anxiety’s a bitch babe."
Song: I Wanna Be by Katy B
Why: Ooooo I love that line. I really love the coy lyricism of trying to make someone your bae and trying to play it cool, but also just do it and get it out of the way. This is all over a great Katy B-standard club beat, that really gets great in the chorus when the "I WANNA BE" is played in the background.
The rest of the album though... pretty disappointing. I wasn't sure what to expect really, especially with all the hard stuff going on in her life with her brother, but I guess I kinda see this as like... a side project. Overall I think that while the album is a step-down, this song proves that Katy still has it!
I also enjoyed:
Honey - Kaytranada's production - NICE. The outro is cute too
Water Rising
Chase Me - Katy trying & failing to top Aaliyah, but still cute
I didn't care for:
Lose Your Head
Heavy
That KDA remix
KAYTRANADA
"I'll give you my heart and the rest is up to you."
Song: You're the One (feat. Syd) by KAYTRANADA
Why: First off - I hate these musicians that insist on capitalizing everything. So annoying. Second of all, THIS SONG IS ****ING JAM. How can you listen to it and NOT at least be boogie-ing a bit on your seat?
Kay really throws Syd into the front of the song in a pretty new way for her & she sounds great on the track. The production on the song & the rest of the album is truly great. The video's cute - the rest of the album is FIRE, and I kiiiiiinda have a lil crush on him
I also enjoyed:
Lite Spots - LISTEN WITH BASS
Together - Probably my favorite AlunaGeorge collab this year
Track Uno
Glowed Up

Kendrick Lamar
"Why so sad? Walking around with them blue faces."
Song: untitled 08 by Kendrick Lamar
Why: This was a cute lil EP/album/leftover album/whatever that didn't really have any bad tracks but wasn't as good as either of his full LPs! I can't really find the right version on Youtube but whatever. This one was my favorite!
"There's so much stuff to do, right now I just wanna snooze - because waking up is the hardest part, but then, it's essential."
Song: Waking Up by Kero Kero Bonito
Why: I've only just listened to this album yesterday... lol. It's a good album though; I quite like it!
The first verse sounds like mother ****ing "Don't Touch Me I'm Scared" or whatever those weird series is called LOVE that flute solo... come on. I think my favorite part is the hopeful optimistic sweep before the final chorus. I may just have a higher preference cause it's track number 1 tho lol
I also enjoyed:
Heard a Song
Big City - Love this one
Break - Queen of taking a break for too long & not wanting to do anything
Trampoline - A bit surprised everyone seems to like this one so much tbh...
I didn't care for:
Graduation - I don't hate this song... it's just too ****ing silly for me to take seriously? I guess that's the point, but idk.
Kimbra
"You know I want skin to skin, so give me that sweet relief."
Song: Sweet Relief by Kimbra
Why: Queen of musical orgasms (see ending high note on Miracle) finally released a song that's pretty overtly sexual & allows her to release (tee hee) a touch of her sensuality. Redinho is MA BOI & his production on this is really great & funky. I always love Kimbra, so I can't wait for the album.

Kishi Bashi
"I want to do what lovers do with you, I want to walk the edge of the earth with you."
Song: m'lover by Kishi Bashi
Why: I listened to his 2012 album back in the day and really enjoyed it, but I had no idea about any of his newer music. When I saw he had an album out this year, I JUMPED to listen to it and it's ****ing fantastic. Such a good album.
This song is a fantastic opener that really utilizes a mix of sporadic production, changed vocals from silky smooth to falsetto, oh my gosh just listen to the song it's so good.
I also enjoyed:
Hey Big Star
Say Yeah
Who'd You Kill

The Knocks
"Yeah I hear thunder in the distance, and it hits me in an instant - rushing through my heart, and I'm blown apart, you don't love me like that."
Song: Love Me Like That (feat. Carly Rae Jepsen) by The Knocks
Why: I really really didn't want to pick this song because I wanted to give The Knocks the spotlight but now you'll all be like "Carly: Queen of The Knocks! Queen of Collabs! Queen of Ewan Chaos's Best Of!" WELL DON'T The production is a JAM but also mellow and Carly belts the chorus in such an emotional way. CHECK OUT this great remix of the song, too! It's actually their own remix lol
55 is a great debut album and it's nice that they finally released a full LP instead of another EP like they've been doing. I've loved them for ages & I'm very proud of them!
I also enjoyed:
Tied to You - The chorus is great, and the bit with the trumpet
Collect My Love - Was gonna make this my pick, but it came out last year so oops
WOO. Have lots to say about this set. But before that, lots of people enjoyed her debut. Listen to Keep Moving and the one with numbers in it (idr what they were). Mostly Keep Moving though. It's really good. She also was #4 last year for me featured in a song!
I just don't think I like Katy's vocals on the types of styles she tried to do in Honey. It's.... unfitting and sounds boring She can emote, but she's cold and distant when she does it. I literally didn't realize this album was an album, you're right it really doesn't feel like a studio album at all. More like a mixtape.
03 and 07 were my fave Kendrick Lamar tracks! 8 and 5 also good though, glad you enjoyed those!
Graduation was my least fave song on the KKB album too! I mean, I like the message but I don't think its ear candy like the rest of the album. OK so what did you think about Fish Bowl? If it were full track it'd probably be on my list at like #1 or #2.
I don't love the Knocks album but it DID have a few bops. It's just the song is something Carly would do for herself so you can easily pass it off as one.
"My unhappiness offends me, your unhappiness offends me, too."
Song: (Don't) Wannabe by Kristin Kontrol
Why: This was a cute pop album! I think this one was my favorite because of the guitar solo & the beat kicking in about halfway through the song.
I also enjoyed:
Show Me - The sax!
Skin Shed - It's like a Robyn leftover, in a good way
X-Communicate
I didn't care for:
Face 2 Face
Kungs
"You'll never buy my love!"
Song: This Girl by Kungs
Why: Heard it on the radio - loved it - all my friends love it - new jam. It's got such a fun mix of summery vibes & that 90s house as well with the vocalist & beat.
I also enjoyed:

Kygo
"Tonight, I feel like, I'm lost in the desert."
Song: Oasis (feat. Foxes) by Kygo
Why: This was far from my faorite EDM/producer album of the year, but it's still pretty nice & I think gets too much flak. Helps that he had Foxes on this song though! Nice to hear her doing collabs again.
I also enjoyed:
Raging
Firestone
Nothing Left

Kyle Craft
"But, Berlin, she ain't the kind of woman to have one boy she calls - she feeds from the touch of one lover, but can't resist the touch of them all!"
Song: Berlin by Kyle Craft
Why: This was another debut that I really liked. He's clearly trying very hard to be early David Bowie with the glam rock style (both music & the album cover), but he really makes it work & sounds great!
I went with Berlin probably because it's the most campy with its story-telling and Kyle's goofy way of singing the song. It's so catchy, fun, & really well crafted (punny)! The chorus is such perfection & probably even one of my favorites of the year. If you don't give the whole album a spin, at least check out this song!
Face 2 Face is my third fave!! What don't you like about it. I feel like Skin Shed is Kylie Minogue trying to sing a Metric song. Like, that's what I get. Anyway the title track and White Street are good you should mention them.
The one time I heard Love Me Like That at a store I agree that The Knocks make the song, it'd still be good without Carly, although it's obvs nice to see her on a quality track again.
I love Kaytranada too and the sings you mentioned as also enjoyed are probably my top 4 for his albern Kendrick's release was alright but I didn't really think much of it, I'm sure he'll bring it with his next full longplay though. TLOP is a mess but I do enjoy a handful of sings, surprised you didn't care for Saint Pablo, it seems to be kind of a fan fave. And n I saw a part of this guy Kygo's set live but it was pretty boring.
K. Michelle has some good songs from album, especially Not A Little Bit, but I don't like it overall
yas @ stanning for BAMBAM part of Famous love your trinity of tracks from TLOP
Honey is not bad at all, but it's not even close to her first two masterpieces
Love Me Like That it's kinda better than all Side B for me
Yeah, I agree, Honey was a bit of a let down Tbh I've only listened to it once and deleted it from my iTunes Kyle Craft's voice reminds me a bit of Freddie Mercury's. Didn't really care for his debut, nothing groundbreaking Pablo, 99.9%, Bonito Generation and X-Communicate are my favourites
Kanye Though unfortunately I wasn't a big fan of Pablo. Hopefully he'll come thru with something better next time. Famous + 30 Hours being among your faves.
I think I'm gonna need to start going ham with the updates soon since this shiz ends soon I may have to start being brief with my write ups.
Replies!!!
@madonnas:
Will for sure check out those tracks from Jessy's debut!
FISH BOWL IS GREAT though I think the fact that it's a bit shorter is better. You are right about that with Carly, I just wanna give the Knocks some love you know
DEFINITELY check out Kishi you'd for sure love him - this newest album in particular. Regarding Face 2 Face, it's not that I don't like it, I just probably listen/go back to it the least. I like White Street too!

QUEEN OF THE STORE STRIKES AGAIN It's just a perfect collab on both sides.
Pretty much same thoughts with Ken & TLOP! I am very surprised I don't like Saint Pablo too No idea why.

I still have Honey sitting on my iTunes... but it's only for I Wanna Be & sometimes the title track Yeah agreed with Kyle, but the songs I liked I LOVED.

Kristin has some nice songs but couldn't really get into her whole album. Not too familiar with The Knocks either. KKB took some time to get used to.
A bit surprised you didn't really like Kristin's full album Check out the Knocks! It at least has some super fun songs.

Thank you though! <3
The number of sections in Encyclopedia L is 9!
Lady Gaga
"You can try to hate it, you can try to fake it, but baby, I laced it!"
Song: Mirror on the Ceiling () by Lady Gaga
Why: Didn't care much for this or Artpop before, but I like this song! It's like a country & actual fun version of that Manicured song from Artpop. It does a good job of utilizing the screaming singing that she loves to do as well as the lower register in the verses. It's fun! Plus I always sing that one part as "we smokin a blunt/bowl" teehee
I also enjoyed:
Joanne - A nice guitar ballad!
Hey Girl (feat. Flo) - Cute
Sinner's Prayer
I didn't care for:
Perfect Illusion
Angel Down
Ladyhawke
"There's no way up, there's no way down, you stole my heart, but you throw it around."
Song: Golden Girl by Ladyhawke
Why: Obviously a step down from her debut & I didn't listen to Anxiety, so it was a slight disappointment, but honestly I always try to support musicians when they finally "are in a happy place" and their music reflect that (very similar with Passion Pit's newest).
I like this song the most since, to me, it kinda meshes up standard Ladyhawke production with a more modern twist. Another fun one!
I also enjoyed:
A Love Song - Gave me higher expectations for the album
Sweet Fascination
I didn't care for:
Let It Roll
Lapsley
"Gone is the person in you knew, you never loved me anyway."
Song: Love Is Blind by Lapsley
Why: An alright album with some songs that I really enjoyed. This one is by far my favorite because of the pretty harps, her voice, the lyrics, and overall feel of the song! I really enjoy the bridge & final chorus.
I also enjoyed:
Seven Months
Silverlake - WHY
Operator (He Doesn't Call Me)
I didn't care for:
Painter
Leap
The Last Shadow Puppets
Song: Aviation by The Last Shadow Puppets
Why: A good alt rock album from this year! Also I love their videos.
Gaga Joanne was such an amazing album, just further proof that she can do so many different styles of music and stuff.
Joanne + Hey Girl being among your favorites Perfect Illusion and Angel Down are both big growers, I definitely suggest giving them a few more plays.
