Billboard defines a one hit wonder as a person/group with only one top 40 hit on the Hot 100.
A soloist from a group can become a one hit wonder even if the group has many hit and vice versa (i.e. Hayley Williams).

The funny part is that no one even liked her "hit". Everyone I know hated it and screamed when it came on the radio. They just played it so much on the radio so it charted semi well. It is really amazing and outstanding. It is really fantastic.
