Why do we dream? Think of the afterlife as our dreams. It's our conscious playing a big role in why we dream, yet they seem so real.

we dream because of our brain. When you die, your brain stops working

You won't win. People believe what thy want to believe. It's sad that some people will never understand the world as it truly is, but that's on them. They can do whatever they want. I'll just never date them or have serious friendships with them because our perspectives are vastly different.

I don't believe. I know. It's called having a heart. If I knew death was the end of my existence, I'd have sex by now. But I'm saving myself.
And that was a MERE example of our conscious but coming from ATRL I should've figured you'd not understand.
My example was to shed light on how it works. The after life is like a dream, but for eternity. Or maybe we do get reincarnated. But I do know our conscious doesn't just stop.

I honestly believe you, as you are, just cease to exist. Its kind of scary, although reassuring. Eternal nothingness. Your reward for living a good life is reincarnation as someone with a more promising life than the one you led. Recycled souls and what not. Whether there's actually a heaven or hell...IDK. Supernatural kind of turned me off the notion of either.

This thread is depressing.
But the answer is 'nothing'. There's nothing there.

People think that when they stand before God, that they will be grateful. Indeed, I think it will be God who will be grateful for I have never lived my life according to scripture that, in my opinion, paint God as this evil bigoted spirit who sends people to an eternity of torture merely because they have loved.
I have struggled with this for a very long time. I have gone back and forth, between believing in Christianity, to just believing there is a God, to believing in nothing. I have come to the conclusion that I will never be at peace because I will never 100% know the definitive truth. I can say that if God, should he exist, revealed his presence to me, I would probably live my life slightly differently and with more of a sense of purpose. However, I do believe that I can live a life of purpose without the existence of an omnipotent being. I can be a moral and loving individual without the existence of an omnipotent being. My guess, if there is God, is that he can't stand Religion. I like to imagine that a God would be loving and forgiving. I just can't fathom how people can believe and worship a God that they believe sends billions of souls to hell merely for not believing in him or being homosexual. Why? Why would he create these souls, just to send them to hell? Why would you believe that? I'm sure that if there is god, he would be offended that you'd believe these things about him. He'd be sickened at the thought that people kill each other in his name, and use him as a way to justify bigotry and hatred.

Now I'm wondering if you are trolling... And tbh, you should go ahead and have sex then if you're serious this is so sad. Every human being has a heart... How do you KNOW that there's an afterlife? You don't know, you "think" or "believe" without a shred of evidence. You don't know anymore than the rest of us. The difference is, we base our conclusion on reason, you base yours on blind faith.

Humans are born with natural sexual argues. Having a sex is the most natural thing in the world. Whilst I don't often do it ( ), I doubt God is going to send someone to an eternity of hell-fire merely for doing the most natural thing in the world.
You do accept the process of Evolution, don't you?

I don't know. The most logical answer is "nothing" -- it'll be like before you were born...
Then again deep down I want to believe or "imagine" some sort of after life. Just so I have comfort with loved ones passing. To think they are in a better place or looking down on me, ensuring I'm okay in my dark times.
However like I said, the most logical answer is nothing as there is no evidence

Most likely nothing. We die. We rot. That's it. And that's okay! It shouldn't be depressing lol If you've done well in your life, then congrats! That's an achievement because life isn't easy. And if you're struggling, you won't have to deal with anymore BS. You no longer have to try to survive anymore. Doing menial jobs just to make ends meet. You're DONE. It's OVER. Yay!

You can only know if there is concrete evidence to prove such a thing. That's like me saying "I know Katy will win a Grammy" -- It's wishful thinking and I respect your thoughts and beliefs, however the whole "It's called having a heart" argument is just invalid. It's got nothing to do with having a heart. I have a heart, I feel pain for others when they are sad, I feel upset when an insect or bug is killed, and i live my life trying to not harm; but I do that not cause "im afraid" of what will happen to me in the after life, i choose to live my life like this because I don't see the need of causing hurt to others.
You'll have to come up with a better argument although like I said, I respect your beliefs, although maybe cut back on the attacking people who believe in nothing

It means I love, laugh and cry more with those I cherish, and make the absolute most of every moment, because these emotions are fleeting. We can find meaning in life, even if it is temporary.
It is completely inefficient and degrading to question our 'purpose' as if there is something waiting for you after you die. Believing that death is fading into nothingness adds to the value and enjoyment of life; living in the moment, fulfilling desires and being happy because this is the only life we have. Thus, the concept of sin becomes nonexistent.
I pity those who live believing their actions in 'this life' will dictate how they experience the 'afterlife', and those who cannot fathom the temporary nature our existence. I define my own purpose and my own existence. When my time is up, it's up.
