But would we be viewing this song the same way if a man sung it. If this was Robin Thicke's single, would she be making this same critiques?
I just think it's interesting that she has a problem with these kinds of lyrics when a woman sings it, but if it's a man, she apparently keeps her mouth shut. Why? I think it has a lot to do with sexism actually. People automatically assume when women are singing these kinds of songs that it's all about being controlled by men, yet when men sing songs like this it's often taken quite the opposite way.
