And the difference between Stay and SIO also isn't dramatic, especially considering SIO is still going strong.

Digital Music Sales Decrease For First Time in 2013
Stay was released in 2013. Find another way to prove your point. Thanks.

Alright, Stay was released as sales turned. It was still released in a better market, and its sales lead considering SIO is still doing well is not significant. You're really not doing well by comparing just two of the singles, especially in the US, when in the US the album has doubled Loud's total and will well outdo the tour.

And a slight change in the sales climate doesn't mean they sold the same, sorry.

And yet I proved the point that 2009 was not the peak, and Stay was released probably a couple weeks after digital sales peaked if we're really going to debate over a Jan. 7th 2013 release.

The touring climate has changed, so I guess that doesn't count right?

Nor is that what I said, I was pointing out that you have to account for it and SIO, with or without it, will still outsell stay.

From the poll results we all agreed that 1989 is doing better than Loud. Anyone with a brain can see that. So we dont know where you are going with your other points...
In some markets, Taylor is still trailing Loud. And yes Loud is pass the 6M mark. SOmeone they said up to last week they saw a sales figure of (5.6M), nice joke. It was at 5.9M at the end of 2012. Its at 6.2M at the end of 2013.

2009 is closer to 2010 than 2012 is. lol.
Look at the Top Selling Digital Songs of all time lists.. most of those hits are from 2009-2011.

I agree it sold over 6m and I agree 1989 will have sold more in the end largely thanks to the US, but my entire point in protesting the (rather ridiculous) Stay vs. SIO comparison is that people are failing to acknowledge that a) SIO is not done, b) Stay had a slight market advantage, and c) isn't even from Loud. Like, it's not a discussion that needs to be had here.

But that's what you're implying, that because the climate has changed that somehow magically alots SIO more sales, but it doesn't work that way, sorry.

Can't have it both ways.

Agreed its not a discussion need to be had. Shake It Off in my eyes is still the bigger "hit" but their sales can be compared because there's no chart manipulation in clicking purchase on iTunes. Shake It Off's sales is a bit underwhelming when you take into account the promotion, the big first week and hype that Taylor has... but when you put into perspective that her album is over 4M sold in the US everything else is irrelevant.

This coming from a Taylor fan though
Like do you think Taylor is more memorable than Rihanna?
OT: Not yet it's not, LOUD had three number ones, and another top ten hit, sold over 6 million worldwide, but with the looks of it 1989 is shaping up to be a bigger era.

Bu I actually can have it both ways, since any attempt to adjust Loud's tour will not account for the eventual difference with the 1989 tour and the adjustment compared to Stay was IN ADDITION to the fact that SIO is still selling, and that's not what I was implying because I know basic math and understand that even adjusted SIO has not yet outsold it.

Shake It Off was affected by "Compete My Album" which propelled the album to reach 4 million which is better..

Sales never dropped so drastically to the point that there was such a big margin in only two weeks, I don't know what you're trying to prove with this.

My last sentence pretty much summed that up.
