It doesn't take much snow to get schools and businesses closed in the South.

It's been -40 degrees in Timmins for the last two weeks and we have close to I'd say thirty feet of snow.. school's only been cancelled once this year.

Yassss im stuck in a hotel bc of this storm. I got trapped in school yesterday cause no one could pick me up till tmrw (today) & I hated it! I know it eas the only way for ne to stay warm but still. But my mom got me today but had to go straight to work so I get to stay at this hotel for free

The issue is not the amount of snow, but that Georgia is not used to this. Up north, they are prepared so the roads are salted and shoved consistently.

I'm glad I was in my house by 4. Everyone be safe out there.

We get times when the snow falls so quickly and the wind constantly blows snow on the roads that the plows and snow trucks don't help but we just know to drive a little slower and not drive a like jack ass. This is a little excessive.

It's not an overreaction. In Canada, snow is not something that happens rarely, so everyone prepares for it with snow tires and **** like that. Here in the south, it's common to go years without snow, so no one bothers preparing for the rare chance that it does snow.

My mom got off work at 1 P.M., called me at 10 P.M. to tell me she was still on the highway and couldn't come home tonight. She stayed with a friend, that night.

My school also had 800+ kids that had to stay the night, because buses were stranded and could not get them.

My mom's been on duty at work for almost 24 hours now because the place where she works is open 24 hours a day and it's on an island with all bridges leading to it closed so her relief can't come in.
