Rated R was released like nine months after the incident though. And still all the Rihanna news that year seemed to revolve around that event (naturally though because it was quite scandalous). Anyway I'm not arguing that Rihanna wasn't in the news. I know she was.

And I still don't get your points. Rihanna released an album at the end of 2011 and another one in 2012, so of course Beyonce on her break wouldn't get as much press as Rihanna, but she still got as much if not more non-music related news (and yes I know it's because of her pregnancy, but news is news).

The reason is Britney simply is not performing at half time this year. For what purpose, she's working on her next album. She was already on the stage anyway.

The 'ATRL trinity' is out-dated.

Beyonce flopped last era, but I think we should wait to see how she does this era before replacing her.

Lady Gaga is yesterday's news. All success she is having now is just the aftermath of her highly impactful debut, but she isolated herself from the GP with BTW, and I think this will cause her next era to underperform considerably. However, the facts cannot be ignored; she is on a hit tour and she is releasing this year; we should wait until ARTPOP before deciding if she should be replaced.

Britney is not relevant at all. No one talks about her anymore, she is no longer a touring force, and the dismal XF ratings cemented the fact that there is no interest in her. Rihanna should replace Britney IMO.

Rihanna is by far the biggest pop star in the world right now, and she is more relevant and talked about than ALL of the trinity so she definitely deserves to be on there.
