It does come down to expenses though. I don't know the pricing of it though, I must admit. If it has a similar price and availability to birth control, then I would definitely at least pick it up.. but I have a feeling it is way, way more.

Yes it is! They should work on the prevention side (condom use, sex edu) of it! Not tell people to take some drugs they don't actually need.

It's definitely something that everyone should consider, because in the instance that you do get HIV, you would have to purchase drugs to take away the effects of HIV anyway.

They are working in the prevention side though. Using antiviral drugs IS preventative. People clearly aren't getting the memo just from being told "Use a condom!" in school because some people refuse to use condoms, and antiviral drugs are the next best thing to keep yourself safe from sexual viral diseases.

That's the angle that they've been tackling for the past 30 years though and the rates for this disease are still disproportionately high among gay men.

The issue has never been that condoms were hard to find, or even get for free. Nor has it ever been that gay men aren't aware you can get HIV/AIDS from bareback/unprotected anal sex. The problem is that they know and they're risking it and doing it anyway.
