My point is that it doesn't take away from the could-have-been sales because everyone would've flocked to download it illegally if it had leaked a month prior or, in this case, only available to listen if you went through this method. The people who ended up getting it legally (because it was free) would've gotten it illegally if she went through traditional methods of release instead (ie physical or iTunes). The fact that the sales are so low has nothing to do with it being free. Even Gaga managed to push 700k factoring out those who did the $0.99 deal.
No way. Gurl you can hate Rihanna all you want but the fact that she gave a million legal copies for free and did an only digital release is a huge factor to considerate while analizyng her sales.
