They know that they are gonna die someday, just like Chris implied Piper was gonna die when he was 14, what was she gonna do? Go into a deep depression and kill herself ? Or Patty clearly noticing Prue isn't there, just claim Prue is on vacation ?

If any three witches in the family line could recreate the power of three then what was the big deal about being charmed? Why couldn't that apply to any situation before or thereafter?
Patty and Grams understood time travel. In season 1 when they travel back in time, Grams warns them not to say too much because she didn't want them to mess up the past. Piper could have explained it well enough without saying too much. The show thought by saying 'don't say too much' that it would be okay, then saying too much would suddenly negate the consequence. This is bad writing because the show makes it such a big deal to not about messing up the past, proceeds to mess it up, and there are no consequences for their actions. To make it worse, they say things like 'take them back before so they won't remember.'
Charmed never understood time travel and to include it in its finale as a clunky deux ex machina was a complete disaster.
