This can help local artists if they implement a reliable and global chart. People will use the charts to check for new music, new artists.
I do that all the time, if an album spends more than 4 weeks on top, it's very likely that I will check it out. If a song is huge is other countries, I always check it out. If a song tops the Billboard Dance Club Songs, I always check it out.
I also have a friend who downloads the iTunes top10 once a month. He literally downloads all the songs and listen to them. He doesn't care about genres or anything else.
So yeah, having a global chart thanks to this would be amazing for music lovers to discover new artists.

She wouldn't be the first to have a global same-day release anyways, though; many artists have already done that.

I get what you mean, but I think if they are gonna make this method official Rihanna is the perfect artist to kickstart it in a global scale. Maybe Adele too.

Rihanna never opened with huge numbers. They need to do it with someone like Gaga or Coldplay.
Coldplay would be the best because even with this system, they managed to have 1M worldwide weeks with their last 5 albums.
Then again, this global released has already been tested and it was very successful thanks to Beyoncé. What we need is another BEYONCÉ but with promo leading up to the release.

This is a stupid idea and there is no point.

Album & Single sales will be done in 5 years max. Streaming will take over, so there's no need to change things that have been in place for decades to only become useless in a few years.

No need to worry about global release dates with streaming.
