This can help local artists if they implement a reliable and global chart. People will use the charts to check for new music, new artists.
I do that all the time, if an album spends more than 4 weeks on top, it's very likely that I will check it out. If a song is huge is other countries, I always check it out. If a song tops the Billboard Dance Club Songs, I always check it out.
I also have a friend who downloads the iTunes top10 once a month. He literally downloads all the songs and listen to them. He doesn't care about genres or anything else.
So yeah, having a global chart thanks to this would be amazing for music lovers to discover new artists.
