Feedback And Input Regarding "Official Threads"
What I am looking for here is not complaining or bitching of any sort. I'm sure that if we work together, that with everyone's input we can come to the best possible situation.
That's why I want people to post their ideas about the best way to do this. The way of the old forum was obviously the best, but there was still an excess when it came to official threads.
So please post which of these 3 you think is best.
1. Should there be official threads for any/all artists?
1a. Why?
2. Should there be official threads for only certain artists?
2a. How would they be decided?
2b. Which official artist threads do you think should be reopened now?
3. Should there be official threads for NO artists?
3a. Why?

I say choice # 2, they are certian artists that are in the news alot, how would they be decided? Well I think that the official threads that have been going for while like Britney,Ashlee,Christina & some others, should the decided vote, Which threads should be re-opened, well of course Britney & also Christina ,Ashlee, Madonna & Mariah that's all in my opinion, I think that maybe a sub forum would be best, or maybe put it on sticky

I say 3.
Why? Well, for one, most of it was just filler discussion and with the post counts back, it just encourages post *****s. Two, didn't TC and Joe just set up social groups? If there must be 27 pages about Britney's picture leaving Bally's or Madonna on 106&Park or Mariah loosing her damn mind by "marrying" Nick Cannon, it should be there, for all the craziness to be contained. Three, Music & Charts would suggest news and charts, not "OMG [insert artist here] is best ever :bows:" or whatever. Finally, why the hell should only Brit and Madge have one? You can't just say certain artists can have one while others can't, it's completely unfair and creates a bad situation amongst posters.
We have social groups, that's where the filler from the official threads should go. If there's news, news should be posted with minimal stupidity (and where dissent/non-groupthink opinions can be stated without having 17 people jump on them for daring to enter sacred ground) and the general praise and adoration section happens in the groups.

2.
Why? Well, there are artists that get news, rumors, chart updates, pictures EVERYDAY and fans need to be informed. Britney Spears and Madonna are perfect examples.
Now, why shouldn't artists like... [insert name here] have official thread? Well, because the thread starter, being a fan, will want to bump his/her thread with the most ridiculous duet news or omg she appeared on a magazine.
I say, let's have an official thread only when the music is relevant, you know, when your artist is having a rest in his beach house no, but when he/she is still releasing singles/videos/showing *****.

This idea of opening up official threads for certain artists is very complicated. On one hand it would be unfair to people who don't like those particular artists and giving off a message that artist A is better or somehow more deserving than artist B.
On the other hand, official threads for certain artists that have a lot of news worthy activity would reduce the amount of new threads being opened up and keep Music & Charts a little less cluttered. There are a couple members that do a good job of running their thread and deserve to continue, but I don't see how you can do that and keep things 100% fair without opening all other threads.

# 2
as what they all say there are some artist who make news almost everyday, if there isnt no official thread and then we wouldnt want a hundred thread be open for a single artist.
i sure miss the Christina thread alot, though yeah, there's nothing much going about her. I think the Britney, Leona thread is really helpful, the buzz right now is all about them. i like the idea that we should open an official thread only if a certain artist is releasing single/ videos.

1. Should there be official threads for any/all artists? YES THERE should be
1a. Why? b/c of the fact that if i have to browse through 40 pages of Britney did this and that and farted and bla bla bla i'm going to puke Britney <3
2. Should there be official threads for only certain artists? yes there should be... artists like Duffy, Hilary Duff, Kat Deluna and Nicole Flopswinger should not be allowed
2a. How would they be decided? only artists who have sold 40 million copies this millenium should be allowed to have "official" threads ... only b/c these artists have "established" themselves in the music industry.
2b. Which official artist threads do you think should be reopened now? Britney Spears OBVISOULY ASAP
3. Should there be official threads for NO artists? i don't get this question
3a. Why? b/c i don't know what ur asking

I think if someone agrees with #2 then you have to agree with #1 for the sake of being fair. First off, the word "Official" brings much tension and causes drama always. Let's call them simply.. "News" threads. The sole purpose of them is to organize and save space so instead of seeing a thread on the first page about an artist and on the second page of the forum with another piece of news of the SAME artist, they get posted in ONE thread, however; the abuse of this organizing tool is what makes them a curse. A suggested solution to this could be as follows:
- No official/news threads for artists who don't have an album out. That applies for Lindsay Lohan, Brandy etc..
- No official threads for artists with dead eras/inconsistency of music news. That applies to Britney Spears, Christina and Hilary Duff.
- Official threads should be strictly monitored by Moderators. Threads that don't serve the purpose get closed.
I also think that the Social Group is not a practical solution either. Although I agree with Mikal that they would fit for the worshiping & "omg britney left bally" type of discussion and the random chit-chat about an artist, but they can't be used as news discussion boards because they are simply not. And you can't check every one of your favorite artists group to see if there's a headline happening. I'm not buying it at all.

I say #3. There are only a couple of artists deserving of "official" threads at the moment, like Madonna, Khia and Utada. It's not a big problem to put all of the news about them in separate threads.

1. There were about 50 of them. There are not 50 artists who have enough news about them on a regular basis to warrant an official thread.
2. It discourages allowing other people to post news about an artist. Only the official thread starter is able to update the official thread, and if they're not around, then it kind of ruins the whole idea.
3. The threads don't forward to the latest news post anymore, so it kind of defeats the purpose of having official threads. Even though there are ways around this, why wouldn't it be easier to have the threads separated completely.
4. It makes more sense. If someone is looking for a particular news story later on, it will be much easier to find by searching. When everything is in one thread, there are pages and pages to sort through before you will find whatever it is that you were looking for.
5. It seems like some people are making official threads at an alarming rate lately. Literally all that you can see looking at the main music forum right now are official threads. And most of them are probably bumped with useless news.
This is my original idea :-)

I say #2 because some artists will have ridiculous amounts of threads open at any given time

In the past, even before the updating thread hack, we have had official threads for artists who have much more "news" than others, such as Britney Spears for example. That thread currently is one of the biggest on the forum, but until further notice it will be closed, simply because all of the others are. Useless news will still be deleted, but if the need arises to bring any of these threads back then we'll look into it.

for the most part i completely agree with you

#1,
mod and administrator are STUPID if they will delete all the official thread. i mean cmon, the Official itself is not something that have been announced legally, like "okay this thread is official or not" the official is not the official in the real meaning of official, the FACT is that we dont need some separates thread about same artist, dont you think it will take some space too?, so what if they r like 27 pages about britney's pic? at least its on one thread? too many threads about same artist is like we got so many fans of her here, i also think so what if there are a threads such a hillary duff thread that always have been bumped with zero news? does it donates a CLICK count for the site itself? give a SPACE for their Fans, does this SITE provides us to get what we know? for me the #2 sound UNFAIR and #3? sound stupid.
#1 is the first CHOICE, please Guys!!!!
Dont Be Afraid with MOD, the site is dedicated to US not the mod!!!!!! we want it, we get it
