Finally finished. Damn, that was quite a task! Here were my album averages:
Circus: 8.21
It's no surprise that I like this album, but Circus is a strong, if scattered, effort, with some truly great moments on there (though the ending is kind of weak). My biggest surprise was "Blur"; I forgot how awesome that song is.
I Am...Sasha Fierce: 8.45
I wasn't expecting this to be my favorite album, but it was definitely the best overall. The ballads on the "I Am..." side are gorgeous; now I see that 4 was the record that Beyonce was just waiting to make.
The Fame: 7.58
I know I repeatedly pine for this Gaga, but I didn't remember how much filler The Fame has. The beginning of the album is as good as any this decade, but the middle is a huge drag.
Fearless: 7.44
This was my first ever listen to Fearless and I thought it was a decent album, but so many of the songs felt the same that I got bored by the end. Nothing horrible, but Taylor was also the only one not to have any track earn a 10 from me.
Funhouse: 8.41
I know Pink gets very little respect around these parts, but she did good with this one. I think it's probably the most consistent of the six albums, with a bunch of really great ballads ("Sober," "Please Don't Leave Me," "I Don't Believe You," "Crystal Ball").
One of the Boys: 8.21
A huge surprise. Based on Teenage Dream, I was expecting something pretty junky, but I like this Katy Perry a lot more. "I Kissed a Girl" is still pretty trashy, but most of the other tracks have huge, appealing hooks that I found quite irresistible.
