Critics hate it, general public love/will love it.. and that's what matters. It'll stand its ground solely on word of mouth.
I hate YA novels/movies and I had not even known what Divergent was until I watched the movie (honestly I went in thinking I'd watch some boring, tacky action/thriller movie.. and I got out being surprised at how entertaining it was and THEN I found out it's a YA movie). The movie connected to me and I'm sure it'll connect to many others just like me who aren't familiar with the books.
