Theme#1: Current Billboard Hot 100 Chart
Popfusion Idol Theme Song!
First up...we have Angelo!
1 - Angelo - Boyfriend (From Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: It's not a disaster. It's bland and uninspiring, but I don't have the need to kill anyone.
6/10...
Zephyr: That was a mess, you were rarely (if ever) on key. However, I do give you credit for making the song your own.
6/10...
Kworb: Angelo, I loooved what you did with the song. I thought it was so cool! You're taking risks and you're being original, I think you're the dark horse and I would love to see you in the finale.
9/10...
Kaos: It was full of energy and was almost as rockin as the original, though that's not a hard thing to do. I never heard any right key, but on the brigher side it wasn't flat, it sure was all over the place.
5/10...
Second contestant...
2 - Liyoh - She's Like The Wind (From Lumidee - She's Like The Wind) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: It's sad when you'd rather hear Lumidee sing a song than you.
3/10...
Zephyr: Liyoh, you started off strong but it seems you lost interest halfway through it. By the end of it, I had no idea what was going on. You're gonna have to take it a step up if you want to make it anywhere. A few more performances like this and you'll end up on some streetcorner singing for change, even then, you'd probably starve because no sane person would give money to a half-assed performance like that.
6/10...
Kworb: This season, I think it's for LIYOH, I really do. I think that you have really, really raised the bar, and I felt like I was at a concert. I think you could release that, put it on a record. Great, great performance.
9/10...
Kaos: Liyoh, you know your limits and you didn't oversing so that's a big plus for you. Though not the best performance you still did pretty well for yourself. Definitely a lot better than Lumidee. Give yourself a pat in the back.
6/10...
Numero Tres...
3 - Rapisalive - Lost Without You (From Robin Thicke - Lost Without You) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: Rapisalive, if I got this as a voicemail, I'd lock myself in my bedroom and have a gun handy. Rather scary vocal, almost menacing and you don't have anything like Robin Thicke's insanely sharp range.
1/10...
Zephyr: That was almost painful to listen to, I think that you have some talent it just doesn't show in this song. It reminds me of something you would hear in an elevator, only those in the elevator would choose to get off as soon as possible and go through the stairs. If you're not gone next round, you must pick a better song, one that actually suits your voice.
4/10...
Kworb: It's all about being smart with your choices and I think you're playing this game to win it. I'm telling you, the arrangement, the acoustic, the whole thing was very sexy, and charming. I loved it.
8/10...
Kaos: I wasn't too sure if where you were was cold but I can definitely tell you are a Janet Jackson fan. Your performance was very bland. It was like a disaster except it wasn't interesting.
1/10...
Our next contestant...
4 - Lingos - Little Wonders (From Rob Thomas - Little Wonders) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: not bad. missed several notes, usually at the start of a line, but not as bad as some I've heard.
5/10...
Zephyr: That was a very weak performance, it seemed to me like you were uninspired through the whole thing. I think my deaf cousin could have performed that better than you. Just remember, mediocre deliveries lead to mediocre performers. And unless that's what you're striving for, you're gonna have to take it up a notch.
5/10...
Kworb: That was great, you really made the song your own. I think the vulnerability that you portrayed while singing this song made the whole thing very sexy, and I'm sure all the women at home will be voting for you, Lingos. I loved it.
9/10...
Kaos: lingos, you know what I must say... tonight hearing you sing. I must say a guy is definitely winning this season. Your performance was full of emotions and I could really feel it. It was literally painful. You're awesome I tell you.
4/10...
Cinco time...
5 - Pedro Spears - Beautiful Liar (From Beyonce Feat. Shakira - Beautiful Liar) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: Color me surprised, even though it was breathy and rather rough on the opener I actually liked it. No held notes for you, mister.
7/10...
Zephyr: I didn't think it was horrible, but it certainly wasn't good either. Stay far away from high notes, they're not your strongest suit and next time you want to sing a 2 person song by yourself, get some breathing excersises because you were out of breath for a lot of the song.
5/10...
Kworb: Pedro, I am very impressed. I think what makes you so special is that you made the song your own, I am sure no one even thought of Beyoncé or Shakira while listening to your excellent performance. Every note was in tune, you got everyone dancing. I loved it.
9/10...
Kaos: Pedro, you did an awesome job emulating the essence of this wonderful song. If I didn't know any better I would've thought you were a professional latin singer. Every note you missed was made up for every accent you nailed.
3/10...
Number Six is here...
6 - X-Dre - Last Night (From Diddy Feat. Keyshia Cole - Last Night) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: Nasal whiny drivel, somehow making Keyshia Cole seem competent. And don't ever moan again.
3/10...
Zephyr: I admire you actually attempting to sing the song but that was probably the worst vocals I've heard. You need to go back and do whatever it is you did before because this won't get you anywhere.
2/10...
Kworb: *claps like a seal* That was just phenomenal. You remind me of a young Whitney Houston. You emoted the song really well while keeping total control over your voice. Absolutely brilliant.
10/10...
Kaos: I think this is your genre. You have a rare talent. Not a lot of singers can make that echo effect. This reminds me a lot of Britney if she was a guy and was gay. I totally adore your performance. The ending was just great.
4/10...
Lucky number seven...
7 - Nick - Wasted (From Carrie Underwood - Wasted) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: Not horrible, but not impressive. Sorta flat through the verses.
5/10...
Zephyr: In very Kworb fashion, *seal claps*. That was probably the best vocal performance so far, a little bit pitchy but good. Only complaint, you may want to swerve a bit from Carrie's version and next time make it a little bit longer to have a better opinion. Either way, I see you going far..
9/10...
Kworb: Nick, I am amazed how pure and beautiful your voice sounds. You took a risk by doing it acappella, and really connected to your audience. I have goosebumps all over.
10/10...
Kaos: Nick, alright so listen keepin it most real. Honestly dude, I didn't really buy the country thing but this is the best song you've ever sang. I'm telling you dude this what you should be doing, Im telling you dude... unbelievable! I didn't even know you could sing like that. I was like WHAAATT!!
8/10...
Number eight sings...
8 - Adrian - Candyman (From Christina Aguilera - Candyman) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: Why so monotone? for a lecture of Candyman, it's impressive. As a song, it's downright confusing.
4/10...
Zephyr: All I'm gonna say is, I hope that you don't expect to go anywhere as a singer because that was mindblowingly horrible. It's been said that Aguilera's music is used for torture in certain parts of the world, I'm sure this would be more effective
3/10...
Kworb: Adrian, this was a great song choice, it showed a different side of you that we haven't seen before. I think your vocals were better than the original. Great job!
9/10...
Kaos: Adrian, for me man I don't know what's going on but that was rough for me dawg, that was rough for me. The chord changes was just too much for you. I dont know dawg, didn't do it for me.
3/10...
Nueve baby!...
9 - London Bitch (Mazen) - Glamorous (From Fergie Feat. Ludacris - Glamorous) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: It's rather childish in tone and I don't know if this is supposed to be serious or a joke. If it's a joke, it fails.
3/10...
Zephyr: Mazen, while not my favorite performance, it wasn't bad at all. I would work out a few kinks in your voice here and there, but overall I must say, I am impressed. If you keep this work up then you might make it to the top 3. Although, unlike Kworb, I think your outfit looks atrocious, did you let the Olsen Twins dress you or something?
7/10...
Kworb: You're coming into your own as an artist. You look fantastic, the song you picked really was great because it showed vulnerability, and it also allowed you to soar with your vocals. I love seeing you in this kind of mode.
10/10...
Kaos: Mazen, you are not the best vocalist but you know how to sell a song. This is a very good performance. The thing I love about you is you are very current and you know how to be unique. Very well done.
9.5/10...
Number ten is next...
10 - Movie Maestro (Spencer) - Waiting On The World To Change (From John Mayer - Waiting On The World To Change) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: You were in key for most of the song, but I think you picked a bad interpretation for it. It's more jazzy and happy than Mayer did it. You got rather shouty in spots. However, overall it was good.
8/10...
Zephyr: Congratulations, you can actually sing on key. My only problem with it were the shouts you gave toward middle, but it was a good performance. This definitely will keep you in the running.
8/10...
Kworb: It's a good choice.. It's interesting, there's so much personality and color to your voice when you hit the chorus. It's like that's where your magic is. I thought it was a really good performance.
8/10...
Kaos: Spencer you are definitely the rocker this season. Your energy is just so infectious. Speaking of energy, your voice is like electricity, it's deadly.
4/10...
Our eleventh contestant...
11 - Kevin - What Goes Around...Comes Around (From Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around...Comes Around) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: You. cannot. sing. Try using your voice for good rather than evil and keep ya trap shut.
0/10...
Zephyr: No words for this, it's been a pretty horrible night but you've taken the crown of being bad. Congratulations for that, and unlike Kworb, I'd be surprised if you made it to next week.
0/10...
Kworb: Kevin, I am just astonished. Those high notes were out of this world. You have been criticized often for your vocal limitations but you showed range, and you interpreted the song well. For sure you will be here next week.
9/10...
Kaos: Kevin, you remind me of a young Stevie Wonder and I think this is the perfect song choice for you. You should keep doing whatever it is your doing cause you got it right on the money.
2/10...
Number 12 is up...
12 - Dnr928 - Face Down (From The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down) <--download and listen here.
Since Dnr928 was the last person to send in the song, I could not contact Zephyr to judge his clip. Although, we have Blanket Jackson to judge his clip. =]
Mikal: Rather rushed vocal, the screamy parts were strained. Not sure your voice is right for the rock style of singing.
3/10...
Blanket Jackson: Your voice really fit the song. I thought the singing could've had a bit more confidence, but overall, was a good performance. Messed up a bit at the end and in other places, but I will give you a
7/10...
Kworb: Whoa, such an explosive performance! You are definitely in your comfort zone when singing these rock songs and you sound like you were born to do it. During your performance I thought I was at a U2 concert.
9/10...
Kaos: Wow, wow wow… man, dnr, we keep saying how young you are this and that but dawg that was hot. The whole thing was just yo factor all over it. How old are you? 14? Dude you probably have the biggest potential in doing something great. I mean your voice is just crazy. You're like a cross between Avril and Billy Joe but better.
4/10...
Last, but not least...
13 - GoldenBoy - How To Save A Life (From The Fray - How To Save A Life) <--download and listen here.
Mikal: you oversold the song. And considering how I hate this song, the times you didn't tray to overtraumatize your vocals it was pleasant. The chorus was rough in spots.
6/10...
Zephyr: Wow, best performance of the night. The vocals were right on, most of the time even better than Isaac's (The Fray's lead singer.) Congratulations.
10/10...
Kworb: Justin, I love how you took a contemporary song and made it sound 30 years old. It's good to see that young artists still appreciate the years before they were born. A truly spectacular and classy performance.
10/10...
Kaos: Justin, good vocals but I felt like you were dragging each word too much and you were kinda falling behind. I'm sure you tried to make it your own but sometimes it's good to just sing the melody.
8.5/10...
