Here's my perspective:

There's only two types of big performing artists these days (lol):

1) Artists like Beyoncé, pre-2004 Britney, etc. who promote the hell out of their albums and singles to get those impressive album sales and increase their fanbase. Bey has had phenomenal success doing that this era and in this category she is doing better than Britney in album sales and single runs.

2) Artists like current Britney and Madonna who do a tad bit of promotion only when their albums are released and then go on tour for like eternity. They aren't concerned with increasing their album sales or fanbases and just go on tour to please their fans. Obviously Brit and Madge are leading this trend.

So everybody has had their success in different areas so we can shut up now.
