Yes, she is and rightfully so. I would feel very offended if I was called a little monster.

I actually really appreaciate her for saying this, in a valid sense.
Gaga treats her "Little Monsters" as if she's they're leader, as if they "bow down" to her (a là "Mother Monster"). Monsters have it ingrained in their heads (or atleast the hardcore stans do) that they must do, repeat, and emulate to anything she says. I'm not trying to say Gaga is some crazy dictator, I'm just making the point that should be shared, that, out of all other stanbases, Gaga's seems to be the one with the most "Leader Figurehead to Fan" relationship. She has basically made herself a "leader" of a group of people, whether she did it intentionally or not (I'm assuming intentionally, but who knows?)
I see Katy is just trying to say that she doesn't need to hold herself "higher" than her fans, like "Mother Monster", but she simply wants to be considered an equal to her fans and show them the same respect they show her.
Thats kind of where I think the Gaga shade kicks in. Katy is stating that she does not want to hold herself on a pedestal above her fans, but rather be on the same level emotionally and physically. Remember, Katy's success was very unexpected and VERY whirlwind, where as Gaga is 4 years into her carreer and has the fan base to, as others mentioned, guarantee her good first week sales. I don't really think Katy has that, which is why she would rather be equal as opposed to a "leader".
And yes, I agree that the GP is far more important than a stanbase. The general public are the people who aren't "fans/stans" of the singer, and in my opinion, their input on the singers/songwriters count more than the stanbases, since stans have HUGE bias. (Look at any poll involving Gaga on ATRL)
And Gaga fans, you can drag me for filth, report me, etc., but you can't deny that most of you, if not all of you, hold "Mother Monster" as more of a leader than an equal.

The GP was really here for Katy this era which is definitely not something that should be overlooked or discredited, but there's always the chance that they wont be here for her next one. A stanbase can guarantee you first week success and career security with everything you release.

No they cannot.

I wonder why everyone seems so bothered with Gaga's relationship with her fans. Can I sense a little bit of jealousy maybe?

OMG
Lady Gaga is a Pop Star, the famous one....You know famous people have fans/stans,right?
I don't understand this argument anyway... only people on here seem to have a problem with it.
I mean, Gaga loves her fans a lot and her fans love her a lot as well.
Why do all these NON-FANS have issues?

I don't understand, how is this self-shade? And I also don't understand why anyone cares so much about something this petty.

Well our fan base got that 2nd highly controversial single a lot higher than some girls first single.

Nope. An artist needs more than just a rabid stanbase to guarantee high first week sales and longevity. There are so many other factors come into play and there are several examples of artists with so-called "stanbases" falling off, diminishing with each release or doing 1M first week on one album and under 130k on another album. You guys give stanbases too much credit, especially to artists who have only been here for under 10 years. They can be just as fickle as the general public/casual fan.

Yeah I know that, but a "religious controversy" wouldn't stop a fan base from buying music. It would stop the GP from buying music.

"I don't want to categorize them." This is the same woman who named her fans Katy Kats after Gaga named her fans and they became popular in the media. **** out of here. God this is why I can't stand most pop stars. There is nothing genuine about them.
