TOP 102 SONGS
Presenting this countdown. This set is filled with a few flops. But HEY. Not all good music makes a dent in the charts sometimes.
| 69. Sight Of You
Artist: Tulisa
Peak Position: #18
Album : The Female Boss
The first entry from my girl Tulisa! I never got the hatred for her. I actually really love this song. The lyrics are pretty bad, but I just love Tulisa's delivery and overdramaticness. And she looks great in the music video.
|
|
68. Timebomb
Artist: Kylie Minogue
Peak Position: #12
Album : N/A
I love Kylie. Her voice is sweet and her music is upbeat and fun. So when I heard "Timebomb" I wasn't impressed. It sounded boring and blah, but after a couple of listens I couldn't singing to it.
|
| 67. Wrecking Ball
Artist: Aubrey O'Day
Peak Position: N/A
Album: N/A
I really loved Aubrey O'day's previous song "Automatic" and she was one of my favorites from Danity Kane. So I was happy to know she was releasing another single. It's nothing groundbreaking or new, but its a cute urban-pop song. It's very JoJo-esque tbh. I'm sad it wasn't a hit at all.
|
| 66. DNA
Artist: Little Mix
Peak Position: #3
Album: DNA
Dubbed as the next big girl group in the UK. I wasn't feeling their debut single. It was cute, but boring. I wasn't impressed; but something told me their next single would be their best. And very well, it was true. "DNA" is electric-pop banger that holds similarities Katy Perry's fourth single "E.T." Definitely one of the best pop singles release in 2012.
|
|
65. Stay
Artist: Rihanna/Mikkey Ekko
Peak Position: #4 (UK)
Album: Unapologetic
There's something about this song that really captures me. Rihanna does a pretty good job - vocally on this track. Mikkey is cool as well. One of the better songs on Unapologetic.
|
|
64. Die Young
Artist: Ke$ha
Peak Position: #2
Album : Warrior
When I first it hear when it leaked. Nothing came but disappointment. Ke$ha was talking about how this album would be awesome and something about ****-pop. I was expecting something amazing, innovating and just out of this world. I didn't expect it to sound like Flo-Rida's "Good Feeling". But alas, a few weeks ago; this song was stuck in my head and I couldn't singing it. Now, I just love everything about it. It's catchy, and something new from Ke$ha. A+
|
|
63. Mean Girls
Artist: Rachel Crow
Peak Position: N/A
Album : Rachel Crow (EP)
Hmm, Everything about this song is very Beyonce. I love this song, it's cheesy; but the chorus is to fun, perky and cute. I also like the "anti-bullying" message this song had. Inspirational.
|
|
62. Goin' In
Artist: Jennifer Lopez
Peak Position: #1 (Dance)
Album : Dance Again... the Hits
Again, this isn't Jennifer's best song (where did she go?) but it *****. I love the beat in the beginning and the little breakdown.
|
|
61. I Heart You
Artist: Toni Braxton
Peak Position: #1 (Dance)
Album : N/A
I'm a fan of Toni and I love her flop album. So when I heard she had a new song out I rush to listen to it. IT SLAYED ME. I couldn't stop singing "I love you, I love you" Toni is my dance queen.
|
|
60. Good Time
Artist: Carly Rae Jespen / Owl City
Peak Position: #8
Album : The Midsummer Station/ Kiss
It's cute, bubbly and makes you feel good inside. It's a good song to jam out to when you're cruising around.
|
|
59. The Lucky Ones
Artist: Kerli
Peak Position: N/A
Album : Utopia
OMFG. This song is completely and utterly adorable. When I listen to it I couldn't get over how cute Kerli sounds when she sings "Oooooh" It's just the cutest. I also love the lyrics. They're very uplifting and inspirational. I was actually moved when she wrote for her friend who has cancer.
|
|
58. 30 Days
Artist: The Saturdays
Peak Position: #7
Album : N/A
Ugh, no matter how much some of the Saturdays crappy singles sound. I will still play it until the chorus is imprinted in my head.
|
|
57. King Of Hearts
Artist: Cassie
Peak Position: N/A
Album : N/A
I really love this song when it first came out. And thought it was one of the best pop songs released this year. But it got old for me fast. Which is why reason it's low.
|
| 56. Wanted
Artist: Dez Duron (The Voice)
Peak Position: N/A
Album : N/A
I love Dez's voice. It's very jazzy and sweet. And he did an awesome job of this cover! When I watched the performance on tv, I was like "Dez, quit trying to make me date you. I have a boyfriend already." I prefer over Hunter's version.
|
| 55. Brokenhearted
Artist: Karmin
Peak Position: #16
Album : Hello
I never heard of Karmin. I remember one of the people I followed would tweet about them constantly; but I never payed much attention. Idk how I got into this song, but once I did. It was instant love. Amy's Jessie-J-Ke$ha-whatever-talk-rap is fiyah! Although, the song is bascially another version of Jessie J's iconic hit "Domino" it's still a good song. (Damn you Dr. Luke and your minions!)
|
| 54. Let It Go
Artist: Alexandra Burke
Peak Position: #33
Album : Heartbreak on Hold
Not really a fan of Alexandra Burke. I downloaded her album and wrote it off as a generic-R&B-leftover-mess of an album. But she surprised me with this era! I just love the club beats and Alexandra's angelic voice. And it's very infectious. Awesome job, Alexandra! *claps like Britney*
|
|
53. You Bring Me Joy
Artist: Amelia Lily
Peak Position: #2
Album : N/A
It's cute. I enjoyed it.
|
| 52. Got Me Good
Artist: Ciara
Peak Position: N/A
Album : One Woman Army
"My back is aching, my bra too tight. My hip's shaking from left to right" This booty boppin' jam is one of the best Urban-pop jams of the year. And I'm impressed with Ciara. Actually, I hated this song because I was expecting a Max-Martin-ala Pop Smash. But this is better than your predictable pop fodder hit. It's light, fun and the song is fun to dance too!
|
| 51. Without You
Artist: Monica
Peak Position: #91 (Urban)
Album : New Life
Monica's new album "New Life" is the definition of B-O-R-I-N-G. Now I love Monica and her last album was great. But this was a big disappointment. However, there were a few gems; and "Without You" happened to be one of them. It's very medoletic and the gargantuan drums just made the song even better. This should at least went Top 20 on the Urban charts.
|
| 50. Girl Gone Wild
Artist: Madonna
Peak Position: #116
Album : MDNA
Madonna, girl. Where have you been? I'm not exactly a huge fan of Madonna. But I appreciate and respect her for what she has done for pop music. But this track isn't showing that. She sounds so disinterested and bored, however - this song is a bop.

This set is flawless though...
Timebomb and Die Young on a single set is too much for me.

TOP 102 SONGS
Here is the next set of songs.
| 49. Don't Wake Me Up
Artist: Chris Brown
Peak Position: #10
Album : Fortune
The chorus was ****ing annoying. Chris could sing! I don't understand why they added autotune. I mean for effect, yes. Did the producer have to over do it? I seriously think this song is way better than the generic "Turn Up The Music" or the dreadful "Sweet Love.
|
|
48. Turn Up The Radio
Artist: Madonna
Peak Position: #1 (Dance)
Album : MDNA
Another entry from Madonna! This is one of my favorites from MDNA. I think if she released this as the first single. It would've been midly successful and painted her in more positive light. This song is mature and very popp-y. Perfect for Madonna! (Although the music video says otherwise)
|
| 47. We Run The Night
Artist: Havana Brown
Peak Position: #26
Album: When The Lights Go Out
It's your typical generic club song. But it's a good one tho! The way Havana pronounces 'we da dum' or something like that is flawless.
|
| 46. Brand New Me
Artist: Alicia Keys
Peak Position: #37
Album: Girl On Fire
Well, this isn't anything new from Alicia (uplifiting songs is her thang) I enjoyed the lyrics. It's very inspirational, bright and fire-y. They're the best part of the song.
|
|
45. Lovebird
Artist: Leona Lewis
Peak Position: Flopped
Album: Glassheart
Poor Leona. I never think she would flop this hard, but turns out; it did. The fact it didn't even chart at all is sad. Hopefully she could comeback again. "Lovebird" is probably one of my favorites from "Glassheart." It's very Colbie Calliat vocally - and reminds me of Leona's past songs (Better In Time, Happy, Bleeding Love).
|
|
44. Windows Down
Artist: Big Time Rush
Peak Position: #121
Album : N/A
This actually a really solid pop song. Fabulous hook, verses are on fire! and the little breakdown is cute. Should've been a bigger hit. And also Ke$ha apparently past the song? Hmm. I wonder why.
|
|
43. State Of Grace
Artist: Taylor Swift
Peak Position: #13
Album : RED
This is probably one of my favorites from the album. The beginning, the U2-influence and the lyrics are perfection. My favorite part is the bridge "This is a state of grace. This is the worthwhile fight."
|
|
42. Turn Around
Artist: Conor Maynard / Ne-Yo
Peak Position: #8 (UK)
Album : Contrast
I never thought I would become a big fan of Conor - but I am. After hearing "Can't Say No" and watching the music video; I'm like, no thanks. But then after giving his album chance, I was like he has swag. His voice is beautiful, and the song is amazing! I love the beats, the sound and everything with it.
|
|
41. Your Body
Artist: Christina Aguilera
Peak Position: #34
Album : Lotus
One of the best singles from Christina. Definitely improved from her previous era. Should've been a huge hit but oh well.
|
|
40. Free
Artist: Haley Reinhart
Peak Position: #114
Album : Listen Up!
I hated Haley. Everything about her was so cringe worthy: Her sweet infectious voice, next girl door looks and just overall persona annoyed the heck out of me. If I rated my hatred, I would've said 10. But something told me to give her a chance, and so I did. And I have to say it was worth it. "Free" is an amazing motown-esque pop song. Everything about is perfect and the fact it didn't make a dent on the chart is criminal! She is so much better than that vanilla typical-wannabe rocker dude that won American Idol.
|
|
39. Glad You Came
Artist: The Wanted
Peak Position: #2
Album : Battleground/The Wanted (EP)
I remember being excited that a UK boyband was breaking into the US. (this was before 1D, of course) and I remember getting all excited when they first performed on Ellen. I was like, this can't be happening. A UK artist performing a US Talk show? I love this song - it slays me from the beginning to the song.
|
|
38. Catch My Breath
Artist: Kelly Clarkson
Peak Position: #30
Album : Greatest Hits: Chapter One
At first, I wrote it off as a boring song that is basically a mashed-up of her previous singles. But after giving it another listen, it grew on me and became one of my favorites. And it also made me sort of like her again.
|
|
37. Music Sounds Better With You
Artist: Big Time Rush
Peak Position: #26 (Pop)
Album : Elevate
Believe it or not - BTR was one of the first boybands I liked. Yeah, I know. But this song is a bop.
|
| 36. Good Girl
Artist: Carrie Underwood
Peak Position: #18
Album : Blown Away
The lead single Carrie's fourth album Blown Away, is definitely one of her best lead singles. I enjoyed the rock-pop vibe that I felt from this country song. It's loud, obnoxious and it makes you wanna jam out! Good job, Carebear!
|
| 34. All Around The World
Artist: Justin Bieber / Ludacris
Peak Position: #22
Album : Believe
Just announced as the fourth single from Justin's sophomore album Believe, I'm excited for this club banger to smash. This immediately became one of my favorites from believe; the stadium-rocking chorus, the breakdown and the fire-y verse from Ludacris just makes it so flawless. It's very similar to Britney's apocalyptic anthem Till The World Ends. and one of the reasons why I love it.
|
| 34. Adorn
Artist: Miguel
Peak Position: #1 (Urban)
Album : Kaleidoscope Dream
Coming at #34 is the R&B crooner Miguel. This was, like all artists I discovered unexpected. I heard all over blogs that Miguel was one of the best urban artist out there, and I'm like okay, that's cool. It wasn't until I gave his album a preview that I found Adorn. Everything about it is just smooth, hot and awesome. Now, I see why he's one of the best urban artists out there today.
|
|
33. Girl On Fire
Artist: Alicia Keys/Nicki Minaj
Peak Position: #11
Album : Girl On Fire
It's underwhelming compared to her past lead singles. Alicia usually comes strong, but this song isn't all bad. What I love most about is the the chorus: It's so loud, obnoxious and annoying. And it's fun to sing along with! You don't know how many times I tried singing the chorus and end up failing. It's just so much fun!
|
| 32. Young
Artist: Tulisa
Peak Position: #1
Album : The Female Boss
Making her last appearance in my countdown is muh girl Tulisa. This is complete trash, but I enjoyed it anyways. It's catchy, breezy and flawless!
|
| 31. The Vision Of Love
Artist: Kris Allen
Peak Position: #29 (Pop)
Album : Thank You Camilla
This song is pretty kewl. And Kris Allen is flawless.
|
| 30. Beautiful Cause You Love Me
Artist: Girls Aloud
Peak Position: N/A
Album : Ten
I love the Christmas-y vibe I get from this song. It's beautiful despite the cringe worthy lyrics. It's basically the female version of British boyband 1D "Little Things"
