You know her debut album sell less than 50k 1st week and go on to sell more than 5 milion. She did intense promotion, her strategy is to meet many people as possible to introduce her music. Visit every single country radio station in the state to get her song on the radio.

Yes, her dad bought the 3% of a company that was worth a plank of wood before she single-handedly turned it into a desirable label for other major country acts

She was a songwriter for Sony ATV at age 14. She was signed by RCA Records but left them at aged 15 because they wanted her to sing material written by other people ala Britney. She performed at various showcases in Nashville and received offers from other labels and she chose to join the independent Big Machine Records, as their first artist, because they allowed her to write her own material. She had the confidence to back her own talent at age 15 when the easy call would have been to stay with RCA, a huge label, and get them to pay established songwriters to write hits for her.

An artist is a lot more likely to make it big with a support of a massive label giving you exposure and other songwriters giving you hits. Taylor chose an independent label and to publish songs she had written herself. That is much more of a long shot to success.

No shade (I bought Red and 1989 and Speak Now so don't come for me Taylor stans), but I can see how it's not hard for Taylor. I mean you have other pop stars like Bey, Gaga, Rih, who practice choreo and have a little more substance than Taylor in what they do. Taylor isn't exactly the most substantial artist or best lyricist (see Bad Blood/Shake it Off/most 1989 album tracks) out there

& I don't quite understand, either, why people would want her to say her work is grueling. Saying it's "not hard" is a very broad statement, and I can't imagine forming such a strong opinion on these words alone. She could be referring to the satisfaction she gets overwhelming any sense of frustration. Also, no where does she say that she doesn't work hard.

No. She was signed to Sony ATV and RCA Records based on her songwriting talents alone. Her Dad later bought a 3% stake in Big Machine Records after she had already been signed. Turns out that was very shrewd cos his stake is worth millions now. His professional day job is investing in companies that show signs of future ROI.
