Ya I don’t buy the “I am empowering women to be comfortable in their skin” slogan, unless they mean “I am empowering women to be comfortable in their skin after several surgeries to remove or enhance parts of my body I was not happy with”.
HOWEVER,
I see the empowerment in owning your body and acknowledging it even as a sexual and powerful thing. For thousands of years, women’s sexuality and manner of dress has been governed by men. They must be covered to be taken seriously, otherwise they are branded a ***** and would not be taken seriously under any circumstances. Fast forward to present time and we still have that lingering shame on women, even by renowned, intelligent and influential feminists who continue the notion that a woman scantily clad or purposefully naked is worth less. So for them to be so unabashedly naked is them saying, I don’t care what you think, this is what I’m doing and I’ll be successful nonetheless.
Of course, points like this are far better made by people who also compliment their sexuality with an incredible talent, point of view or intelligence. Someone like Beyoncé who presents overt sexuality and confidence but also is much more than that. Kim, through her clapbacks, revealed herself to have very little intelligence, if her level of comebacks stopped at things a 12 year old girl would say on a playground to get back at someone taunting her.
