At the end of the day 4 is a great album, and a bold one for so defiantly sticking to the sound she wanted and not the pop-EDM-fluff that everyone from Britney to Katy to Rihanna to Ke$ha to Gaga to Nicki was making at the time.
BEYONCÉ though totally kicked 4 out of the way for me though. It was a great album but she really proved she could make an ALBUM with BEYONCÉ. In my opinion, BTINH brings down 4 by a lot, and it's upsetting that it was the highest charting single despite how basic it was, or perhaps I should say, because of how basic it is.
BEYONCÉ > B'Day > 4 > Dangerously in Love > IASF

Why do u dislike IASF? I hope its not because it's her most pop-oriented album. I feel the album would have fared better critically if she'd placed all the tracks one disc rather than split em between 2.

Not surprising. POP sells more than RnB.

I need to hear them, 'EOT' was one of the standouts from '4'

I actually LOVE a lot of the album, but as a whole it is not her best. It lacks a cohesiveness because of the split disc, and not just because one is uptempo and one is ballads. The I Am.. side is very folky and doesn't match the production or feeling of the Sasha Fierce side. Where BEYONCÉ got it right, the ballads like Blue or Heaven or Pretty Hurts still have a very textural sound that matches other album tracks. It all works. IASF seems too commercially oriented, and it did very well, but the quality suffers because of it. It's merely good songs put together, not great songs that fit a theme.
Plus, for having a complete disc of bangers, it actually lacks a lot of amazing up tempos. Single Ladies, Diva, Video Phone are great, the rest are kind filler-esque, even if I do love Radio.

I agree with some who said 4>>ST when it comes to vocals. On ST, it seemed like she didn't have many vocal moments than on 4. I suppose you can say production wise ST>>4..but even that's a stretch.

No, that is definitely not a stretch. Production-wise, melodically, lyrically ST >>>> 4.
As for vocals, it's not like it's easy to arrange a song like Rocket... It's genius. There's a lot of great vocal moments on ST. I guess they're less impressive but more expressive.

I agree with the production on ST being far superior then 4, but the things she did on 4 vocally>>>>>>
I guess it comes down to personal preference, but 4 has more stand-out moments vocally, even though Bey did do some great things on ST.

I agree to an extent about about your first statement. EOT and Countdown are superb. And I listened to Rocket fully one day while I was cleaning and it's not as bad as I previously thought.
BuT, "I Care">>>>>>>>>anything on ST(except Blow).

I totally agree 4 is a better vocals album than BEYONCÉ. But on the latter her voice seemed more aimed at complimenting the tone of the song rather than showing off her abilities (like how on 4 she said she wanted to better match how her voice sounds live).
BEYONCÉ's production is far superior though. While there are some greatly produced songs on 4, it's a bit scattered in style.
The unfortunate part of BEYONCÉ not having as intense vocals is that the live performances can be a bit dull. Like, Haunted is so boring live. Maybe if she moved around more or let her voice soar a bit, it would be more entertaining but even Pretty Hurts which is just about the only song on which she SANGS, it kind of isn't that great as a live song.

She had better bless us with a album of demos.
The sound suits her so well.
I'm glad we got 4 though. Her best work, as others have said

Hmm..I didn't think of that..ST does seem subdued vocally to compliment the production. I do rank 4 above ST only because she excels at rnb and her voice is meant for that type of sound.

Well they are two songs that I can't really get in to. But Superpower is EVERYTHING. She would have won AOTY if she would have performed it at the grammys.
