She's still not over on Hot AC. They remember her from her early days and want to give her that staple status but she simply doesn't let them with the songs she's been releasing lately...

Those number you posted are a definition of pure FLOPPAGE!
and are not enough for a track to be a hit.
I was so shocked to see girlfriend's audience and I really thought it would've had been a bigger radio hit since it was #1.
Avril has actually decent sales but radio doesn't touches her songs due to her risky image and that it might actually divert their listeners despite the songs being high on iTunes.
Being top 20 isn't actually good on a least listened to irrelevant format like HAC who has no to little effect to a songs iTunes position
Ariana and Selena etc many of their songs that go Top5 on Pop Format.
yet their songs failed to outsell many of Avril's Radio Flops despite having triple the audience.

Radio has been sabotaging her after her first era and she has been sabotaging her own core fan base who could've had been bigger like P!nks if she handled herself better.

Girlfriend did great but they were reweighting stations back then to have less impact on the charts and audience in favor of digital sales and this was the first time she didn't have the Hot AC support (while now every pop song can go #1 on that format, I detected a little bit of shade even back in 2007, I did). Overall all stations had a lot less audience than today. So judging by audience WTH was only two times less successful than GF, a lie. Don't let them fool you...
Not the third biggest format being irrelevant, sis. Songs charting on Hot AC get played for a while and usually are selling for a longer time.

Queen was done so wrong so many times in her career and now it's her time to shine with her new single "Avocado (Mango Remix)". Coming for that #1 on Pop radio, Hot 100 and Streaming Songs...

I remember when "What the Hell" was released and it was getting those (+ 0.074) kind of updates the whole first week. I was shocked.
It really flopped on the radio considering the sales were good (it even outsold and outlasted Britney's HIAM afterall) so don't even call it "okay-ish performance on radio". What was its peak AI? Something around 45M I believe, if not less. It would definitely be a top 10 hit on Hot 100 with a radio support.

All of her songs flopped on the radio after that.
HTNGU had promising first week (much better than WTH), but 2nd week after the rolling effect kicked in everything changed and the song never took off.

The similar artist ignored by radio is Shakira... poor hoe couldn't even get a radio hit with Pitbull's lead single, Rihanna feature or World Cup Dr. Luke production.

I just hope this album has a plethora of ballads on it. I don't want any "album 2.0", I just want her to bring it with the ballads and even rock songs because that's where she shines. I want songs like Nobody's Home, Innocence, Not Enough, Darlin....

her last 3 albums have been so uptempo and pop I'd love to hear something similar to her previous 2 eras.

Anyway I think we can all agree that her high-success career is now dead and buried in a coffin covered with that red curtain from M&G with Hello Kitty nails not letting it out till the end of time.

The people saying she still has a chance are probably a bit delusional. She had a chance before AL era and we all saw what happened. She's just unwilling to reinvent herself and take her career seriously. She's always like "whatever" and that will get her nowhere anymore, so I expect her to come up with the old basic-pop mixed with ballad mixed with a few drums here and there songs.

I do think she has a chance. The truth is that she needs better management and better singles. A feature for once wouldn't hurt

She, like any other artist who expects to succeed (whatever that means... chart-success basically seems to be the basis for general success), needs to just take it seriously and do something different and be creative. And beyond commercial success, just for the fans enjoyment, and for the artist themselves. Like, why wouldn't you wanna try different directors and use different cinematography or themes or dancing or cool set pieces and effects? Just for the pure thrill of imagining something and bringing it to life. Isn't that where it all starts? Sad to say that unfortunately most people in the industry, in mainstream music, are about the $$ and social media likes and views, not just making a statement or a truly stunning performance - like what the VMAs this year lacked. It's all about instant uploads and constantly checking trends and memes. In the early 2000s, people had to watch the show on their TV and that's it. Sure there was the Internet, but back then there was way more emphasis on who's performing and what they'll do. Nowadays it's all about the viral moment or over-praising people (Beyonce). Nothing groundbreaking...
