It's not trolling if it's true! This thread is evidence of it. Popstars of color can be just as successful as white popstars. Beyonce, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and Whitney are evidence of that. Britney isn't successful because she's white, she's successful because she has catchy music, nice looks, and has an inspiring story. Just like how Beyoncé is successful for her talent, class, and beauty. Race doesn't have to be brought into it!
Sis you had to be the one, I tried to try and lay low. But you do realize that three out of the four women you listened benefit from colorism due to their light skin, and in Bey/Mimi's cases fair hair as well. And with Whitney exceptions do not make the rule. Race doe splay a factor in things it's how the world works sadly

You can be successful but let's not act like race does not play a factor don't be naive like that
Now this is not true. Why did people drag Britney so much from 2002-2004 so much for her lip syncing and always said she sucked and couldn't sing? Also, I don't think ANY popstar would be successful if they were ugly... They ALL use sex to sell, except for Adele so I don't know you guys always call artists (especially people like Katy Perry and Beyonce) "classy" when they all do the same thing. Only person that would remain successful is Lady Gaga, although she uses her 'ugly' as a brand.
(No shade in this post by the way, trying to prove a point)
Sorry, I worded that wrong. By saying ''nobody was checking for her vocals'', I mean that her fans weren't checking or caring that much for her singing. I doubt anyone fell in love with her because of her voice. That was more Xtina's thing. People fell in love with Britney because of her beauty, charm, songs, videos, choreo, performances, success, etc. Singing was like the smallest factor.
Lol @ people using the white blonde girl excuse... Then what about all the other white blonde pop stars?
Britney had already filled the void.
Notice they ALL, regardless of not having the most catchy music, not being the most talented, or best looking, and having different labels, had SOME SUCCESS though. That is inexplicably attributed to being fair-skinned and having blonde hair.
They ALL had at least one hit. Most people don't even remember Willa F0rd, yet:
They ALL had success at some level.
Do you think if Jay went and got 3/4 more girls from Barbados they would ALL get at least a #1 on Billboard? Pretending racism and colorism doesn't exist in a world where "the beauty standard" is Marilyn Monroe

Girl bye, Beyonce didn't start out light skin, don't fool yourself. Janet Jackson is another example, like someone said above, of a successful black popstar. Why doesn't Whitney count? She was a very successful black artist, and she wasn't light skinned. Michael Jackson, the man in your avi, was in his prime when his skin was black! I'm not naive, I know race plays a role in some things, but I don't think it should be used as an excuse as regularly as it is. Don't downplay Britney's success because she's white (reverse racism tbh!!), facts are facts.

Exactly my point! You can barely differentiate them and Willa Ford is a forgotten nobody, but guess what? Bitch still had a hit sing! Doesn't stand out a bit, but she still had a hit sing!
