In other news, you can now post in groups even if you're not a member of the group. This makes it easier to comment on threads without clogging up the "My Groups" section. You still need to join a group to post new threads or add pictures.
I might reverse that decision if it causes problems.

That is an EXCELLENT compromise. You're definitely the best design mod I've ever seen because you actually take people's comments to heart.

No offense, but you seem to forget that all they have to do is delete the threads, if they pop up, and they would be finished. If the mods really want it to work, they will make it work.
Like I said, let's just...give it a test run, see how it goes.
Oh, and by the way...

Is it more mature? Duh. Just about every forum is. Is it better? **** no. Why? Well, the fact of the matter is, ATRL, no matter how stupid it can be sometimes, is unique in its structure, whereas Pulse isn't, really. There's no other forum like it, and, for some strange reason, I think that's why I continue to post here.

No offense, but it seems you didn't understand a single LETTER from what I said.

I understand that, but that won't, and still hasn't, stop people from posting what they want in any section. Of course you all can just close/delete/move the threads, but you'd still be doing a lot more than you were with 1 thread for a specific artist.

It really should not be that hard to think when a thread should be made and when a new group should be made. If no one is dying to post how there is a 10 second stream of Britney walking, then it is probably not worth posting anywhere. That said, with the official threads, it was a lot harder finding older news/topics that were already discussed or posted. This way, even though there could be a lot of posts in one group, it is a little bit easier keeping track of what is posted and where.
Oh and you could share "unpopular artists" videos and songs but you really do not have to post every single thing about them in the Music section. If someone likes the new song or video, they will try to find new information themselves. The best way to market someone is not just by merely spamming but thinking about what you like about them and what you really want to share.

I was going to disagree with how more work should not result to carelessness but then again, I know how easy it is to give in and stop caring. So, you could be right but at the same time, it is still better to try and fail than to never try. It is just sad that, from how I read your post, you are saying that members really cannot control their impulse to post... is it just really that hard to get the members to think before they post?

Bingo. Well, almost. Looks like a lot of people still haven't figured out they're encouraged to post new discussions in new groups for new topics. I've seen dozens of replies that should have been a new discussion within a group.
Instead of cramming everything into one thread, now there's an entire multi-discussion area to discuss each artist. So, use it! Post new discussions in the groups, people! That's what they're for.
Unfortunately, the Britney folks seem to be having the hardest trouble with this. Not only are they using just one thread over and over in their group, but they're using it to talk about how much they hate their group. Good job, guys!
Also, we're going to keep this idea alive for a while. I hope everybody "settles in" and gets used to it. Then, if it actually fails, I have a backup idea. Maybe we could try a dedicated forum for official threads/fan threads. It would be a separate forum than Music News, but each artist would just have one ongoing thread. Just a thought. I don't think it would work, though, because it would bring back the problem of those giant out-of-control threads that slow down the server.

Yeah I got a small yet fair kick out of the David Cook group for as many members it has...
Demonic idea: What if you shut down the ENTIRE music forum for a week in order to force members to use the groups? I DARE YOU GUYS!!!!

Some of you people on ATRL have such a twisted perception, I swear. Let's just rename the site Flopfusion.
You have a place to discuss any artist. Not just two or three anymore. You can even use it exactly like the old official threads, if you actually wanted to. So what the hell is everybody's problem?
I want to hear something constructive, because all I'm seeing here is complaining with no real substance.
