Because Gaga is blatantly inspired by a time period or artist, which is apparent in her music and videos, then "every artist isn't original, either... because everyone is inspired." Yes, every artist is inspired, but that doesn't mean every artist is a carbon copy of that "inspiration." You can be inspired and still be original. I don't feel Lady Gaga is original in her music -- and the "Born This Way" album is a prime example of that.

True, but she cites her influences and has been giving credit to legends she's been inspired by since day one. She doesn't act as though she's this incredibly innovative artist who's the first pop star to do everything. Gaga herself has even basically said that she knows everything has been done before, she still adds her own elements to her art.

Also, what social issue is "Scheiße" addressing again? The lack of adequate plumbing systems in developing countries? I am seriously sick of the Little Monsters acting like Born This Way is anything but a failed experiment in '80s nostalgia.

Scheibe is about the oppression of women. Sheesh! the lyrics are self-explanatory. Women are mostly looked down upon in some parts of society but she says stand up and prove the men wrong. An album like that is amazing on its own and its not a fail, its just people who are biased hating. Most of her fans from the fame and fame monster era were straight, i even know many but when Born this Way came out they were pissed that she was supporting gays saying all sorts of nasty things to the LGBT and her rumour about her being a tranny. The album itself is amazing but the normal behaviour of most people would be looking at the sales and how the singles performed. Like 4 is an amazing album but people will downgrade it for stupid reasons yet its a masterpiece on its own.

Citing your influences doesn't make you any more original.
The statement still stands, she is unoriginal.

Jane's Addiction's The Great Escape Artist. A couple of pretty good songs (particularly the three singles), but otherwise unmemorable. Shame.

Just admit it. Gaga has you so worked up that she doesn't let you live your life to its fullest.

You're so delusional. I can remember that Madonna interview saying she and Marilyn only shared the color of their hair. Lol. If having influences is being unoriginal, then there are (and have never been) no original artists in the whole planet Earth.

She forgot to thank Madonna for Born This Way single. I don't see her as a genuine person anymore. Oh ye, lets not forget about other Madonna rips on the album. She never thanked her for those either. You were talking about....?

Madonna never thanked The Staples Singers for Respect Yourself, I guess.

Madonna has ripped off SEVERAL artists when she was in her prime, Madonna's "originality" is greatly overrated. Madonna didn't cite her influences like Gaga does now. Many claim 'Express yourself' was a rip off itself, for what reason does Gaga need to "thank" Madonna for? she has said Madonna has influenced her since The Fame era, she doesn't need to utter Madonna's name every time she opens her mouth.
And why would she now seeing as how Madonna apparently forgot who Gaga is. "Lady who?"
She's clearly bothered, not surprising.

Can you put Respect Yourself on top of Express Yourself and make them sync, pitch and sound exactly the same in every verse and chorus?
Those two songs only share "Yourself" in their verses. It was just a desperate attempt to get attention, just like the Bellami Brothers tried to get Britney for If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold it Against Me. It's called making publicity for oneself. Same can't be said about BTW/EY.

When you rip a specific song by a specific artist you put their name in the credits of the song and don't go thanking Whitney Houston & Alexander McQueen for inspiration. Besides this has nothing to do with Madonna per se. It's about BTW being unoriginal, not about Madonna having her own record of rips.

I'll say BTW, it's far from being a bad album but I think it's far from being a classic. The hype screwed it over as well, since it was hyped up to be the second coming or something.

If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first [expletive] artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means that I'm [expletive] smart.
Madonna, like the huge business woman she is, would have sued Gaga without doubting. She didn't. Also, the only one who has judicial sentences for plagiarism is Madonna, not Gaga.

lol I've seen that before but meant to bookmark it, thanx. I'm a causal Madonna fan myself, that woman was not as innovative as her stans hype her up to be. And I CAN'T with her saying there was nothing similar about her and Marilyn besides the hair color, granted she was paying homage to Marilyn but don't sit there and try to downplay it.

Kelly Rowland - 'Here I Am'
I guess I had high expectations after Motivation did very well on the charts earlier this year.
