When I see a once in a generation superstar I know it, Adele is certainly not that. She is simply a girl who got lucky singing about how much her life sucks, with basic ass piano ballads and break up songs.

You don't just get lucky with "basic ass piano ballads." Like her or not, she makes good music, has an incredible voice, and is appealing to a wide range of people.
Since you're fit to judge though, why don't you go and try to write one of those basic ballads and post it on your facebook/myspace/twitter and see what happens. Who knows, you might be the next global superstar. All it takes is luck, right?

duhhhhhhhh stop the comparison, I mean all the girls always playing safe with the current beat while gaga never do it that way, she always take the risk, she's always transforming 180 degrees, that's what make her a superstar, just because your fave stay long enough in the industries doesn't make your fave recognized in the future. in the future gaga name will be as big as britney and madonna

I say no just because she needs to still prove that she can handle the years.. lets see where album 3 goes. She already stumbles with Born This Way tbh. The charts aren't here for her THAT much then like with other superstars.. I would say Rihanna is right now. We will see

she was on her way but lost a lot of momentum with the BTW era since it was targeted at junior high kids.. but depending on how her next era(s) go I think she can still become "this generations superstar"

Where at? Timbuktu? Like I said, Norah never had the coverage Adele has had in this digital era. "Don't Know Why" doesn't touch the worldwide success or acclaim of any of Adele's singles from 21.

Not sure why you think a generation can only have *one* superstar.
Clearly Gaga is a massive name worldwide but, in a more low-key way, Adele has sold more over the past few years. I think they are both superstars although in different ways (as for that matter is Rihanna).
|
I guess Gaga has more cultural impact than them

gaga's influence is just bad, and as time goes by people will remember her for her weird outfits and not for her music it's already happening
|
Her influence must be bad since she is trying to end bullying, she creates foundations, donates millions to charity, makes campaigns against AIDs, helped repealing DADT and spreads messages of love and acceptance.
And I guess no one remembers her for her sold out tour shows and the controversy she's facing in Asia.

Umm, Madonna sold appr. 210 Million albums.
GaGa's sold 23 Million albums.
Adding single sales and calling it Records has always been dumb to me especially when comparing an older and younger artist.
But, I thought BTW didn't do very well? So what's the argument that makes GaGa thee superstar because she hasn't passed Rihanna IMO.
Not being rude I'd really like to know.

Uhm, considering Born This Way sold as many copies in 7 months as Loud did in 13 months. Oh, and The Fame has sold more copies worldwide than what RiRi's first 4 albums combined, and Talk That Talk hasn't done that well... I don't know what you're talking about.

I wasn't even talking about sales, and no the fame did not...
I was talking about impact, no need to get upset and attack I was asking a valid question. The BTW era had nearly zero impact other than the first single and her sacrilidge portrayal of Jesus... Rihanna is constantly on the charts and constantly in the headlines 4 years straight.
Plus BTW sold 440k for only 99c, if that was a Rihanna cd I would've bought ten. Stay in your lane, and bring me reasons why she's thee superstar of the generation...

I don't see Rihanna in the spotlight of other countries rather than the US and the UK, I don't see Rihanna selling out olympic stadiums, nor having such an influence in Thailand that there's even a Lady Gaga Day there. I wonder why Rihanna's impact relies more on chart success rather than healthy social behaviors, which she doesn't have, but we shouldn't go deeper into that.
Don't get me wrong, I love Rihanna, but everyone, even people from other fanbases know Gaga is the most influential compared to her contemporaries.
And even if those Amazon copies hadn't been sold, Born This Way would've sold more in 7 months than what Loud AND Talk That Talk sold in 2011 combined.

I don't understand why everyone with this argument always throws Rihanna's name out on the table. Her new album is much more of a disaster than Born This Way, and she's now on her fourth consecutive under-performing single.
