This video might not be groundbreaking or shocking, but it does what it needs to do as a video and even more. It fits the song perfectly; as Keri gives tribute to many female artists who made it big in the industry; sampling their videos and making it her own. There are many scenes, which keeps it very interesting. The song is cocky, and the video is too. Keri surprisingly look very beautiful and radiant, which makes it more pleasant to watch. The video made me love the song.
4. Firework – Katy Perry
"Firework" is not the song we'd usually expect from Katy. Yes, it's upbeat and generic; but the lyrics are different in a good way. The same is the video. It's not the fun-sexy-pop-hot we usually get from her, but a video with actual substance and depth. Firework video is shot in a beautiful place, which has the winter feeling which fits the song perfectly. Katy looks beautiful as usual in it, and the messages she passes through the videos empathizes the meaning of the song and makes it more obvious. The people in the video, are actually, her fans who won a contest to be a part of the video. I think that's amazing since it makes the meaning of the song even better; the music brings us all together, the music united her fans all together. And what would be a better song than Firework to do so?. It has many important social messages such as; Bullying, Sexuality, and even more sensitive issues such as self-confidence and cancer. Everybody has a "Firework" and them and they should never give up, that's the main idea of the song, and the video delivers the idea perfectly.
3. Love the Way You Lie – Eminem & Rihanna
Eminem and Rihanna in one video. That's enough for it to be one of the best videos ever. Ofcourse, many people were mad at first why didn't Eminem & Rihanna bigger part in the video and play the characters themselves; but then again; that's not what they are trying to do. Eminem and Rihanna "tell" the story of domestic violence, which in this case are Megan Fox and that guy. And both of them, are examples of people who were into domestic violence but got out of it, so it gives hope and inspiration for people who might be in the same situation. The video is bluntly about domestic violence and it's vicious never-ending cycle, while Eminem and Rihanna sing in front of a burning house which represents the pain and agony of such relationships, as the lyrics say "Just gonna stand there and watch me burn, but that's alright because I like the way it hurts". The editing in the video is great and the fire looked very good and not artificial, and the close-ups on Rihanna's face showed her emotional pain which only made the song and the video sync better because they are both filled with pain and emotions. What a great collaboration, what an amazing video.
I'm so tired right now, I'll reveal the Top 2 tomorrow. Thank you guys for reading [If you read ]
I think Keri's video is sorta cheap, but for the video itself, I don't care. It's what the message the song was trying to bring that matters for me, and I think she did a pretty good job.
