THIS is where ATRL fails to differentiate between talking **** and criticism that actually means something. Hes totally right, I found it confusing when Gaga had said she stopped listening to music just to make this album. I feel like its not smart to isolate yourself in that way because shes not going to make something currently forward thinking by placing herself in a box. That might be why Applause sounded so whatevs and why tracks like Manicure and Burqa exist. I feel like Sex Dreams is the only new song that could fit into the current pop landscape in a Gaga way. She seems to have some serious demons shes wrestling with this era in terms of fame polluting her creativity and her spirit.
When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place. Once you have people around you who don't question you, you're in a dangerous place."

I agree so much with this quote, it has happened to so many artists. They really need a strong support system that keeps them grounded.
I hate Elton but I think he's right about Gaga. Too many "yes" people can ruin your career; someone needs to be there to tear down your ego.
And with Miley I don't think it's a meltdown... more of a desperate attempt to leave behind her Hannah Montana shadow and seem grown up. The only part I found disgusting was her rubbing up against Robin Thicke (like ew), though. I think people are just freaking out over simple things that every other pop girl has done.
"With Gaga - who I love, she's the godmother to our children - I'd like to be able to talk to her right now, but I can't get through to her. And there are times when you have to listen. When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place. Once you have people around you who don't question you, you're in a dangerous place."
He is completey right about Gaga. Of course with such criticism her "yes" men around her will block him trying to get through to the godmother of his children
