You're trying to find every excuse to downplay Xtina and it's really transparent. Xtina, critics, and nor did her fans have to give her this, "Voice of our generation" title. It was giving to her by her peers. So, until another, superior artist comes out and says, "Adele is the voice of our generation," then this argument holds no weight.

At no point during her career has Xtina not been under anyones shadow, to claim she is dominating like Adele is now is ridiculous.

Well, a dip is inevitable.
Didn't Mariah, Usher and many others experience big dips after a huge era in recent years?
I don't think going the "Norah Jones" route is such a bad thing. Pop success will not always be awaiting artists, and that's why artists should build fanbases in niche markets. I think going the "Duffy" or "Paula Abdul" route would be bad for a successful pop artist.

But in all honesty, folks is giving Adele too much because she's "selling" now. If that was the case, people would claim all this with her 1st album. I'm so sick of this generation and their obsession with numbers, #1's and album sells. Chile, it never use to be this bad.

That's a nice euphemism for "completely flopping in every way and market possible"

That's fine, Bey will take the uncontested entertainer of the generation though

Nope. Adele is talanted but her she isn't a powerhouse and her voice isn't very versatile.

Stripped deary and her 1st album. Beautiful alone DESTROYED anything that year. You hoes forget, her 1st album she was snatching everyone with her singles going to #1. Let's really not.

So many threads about Adele, with long debates about her future and music. 2011 is most certainly hers.

Stripped got poor reviews. Britney's diamond albums torpedoed Christina off the charts. She wasn't dominating. Doing well =/= dominating.

She could be. All she needs is more longevity and to get rid of those CIGARETTES!

!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of band-wagoners. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a poll surfaced that said 70% of Adele's fanbase were Susan Boyle's (who was also hugely successful).I'm not saying this is true, its just a thought I have sometimes.

No, that wouldn't explain her digital success.

You keep bringing up reviews. WTF does reviews got to do with anything. The general censuses (the public, her peers) LOVED Stripped. And she did dominate with Stripped because it was the best selling album by a female of 03. Selling 12 million WW. Also one of the top selling albums in the UK of all time. So honey don't do it. Britney and In The Zone couldn't outsell Stripped, so keep it cute.

Christina has never dominated the way Adele has. While Christina sold 12 million copies of Stripped in 2003, Adele is on track to sell that much in 2011. I don't remember "Beautiful" being the biggest worldwide hit or U.S. hit of 2003 either. Adele may not be on Christina's level considering her longevity, but Christina has never had an era like Adele with 21.

I don't get the logic of some people here. If people supposedly only listen to Adele because it makes them feel smart, then how is this going to change in the future? Pop music won't suddenly take a sharp turn and become more meaningful, and, if we go according to your logic, Adele should have decent years of more success to come if it continues like this.
