As much as I loathe Maroon 5/Adam Levine I find the claim absolutely ridiculous. The video doesn't seem like it was supposed to be cute and light. Based on several visual cues (the lighting, the blood sex), this video was clearly meant to be taken as some kind of dark and twisted. It's like saying a song about the Circus was carnival like because the video took place at a circus...

I actually really enjoyed the video. I didn't think he glamourised it, it intended to be a creepy, unsettling, it felt like his take on American Psycho. And I don't even like Adam Levine, I thought the MAPS video was horrible. And yeah, most M5 videos objectify women... but I unlike a lot of their other stuff, I actually thought this was kind of effective.

And guys, yes. Sexism towards men is a real thing and it exists. Racism towards white people is a thing and it exists. Anyone who denies either is a moron.
