Well, thats great for Gaga... and would have been fine and even revolutionary if every other artist didnt start mimicking the same damn sound.

Who is arguing that it's not average? It's nothing experimental or different.

IGF is freaking Dance. Rap is just a form of delivering vocals to a song just like singing, yodeling, shouting, etc. The genre where rap dominates is called Hip-Hop and IGF is NOT Hip-Hop.

It would need to be someone new and fresh to change the sound of radio.

And instead of doing just that, they're all following in her footsteps.

I did NOT say that it was a Hip Hop song, but it has some urban elements as most of Black Eyed Peas music does. I know it's a dance song. Now on you go.

It's not her fault if other people mimick her. That's their problem.
GaGa isn't the sole reason the sound exploded. I think it was coming to be a huge trend for a long time, & would've exploded with or without her. However, she did progress the sound forward.

she hasn't rreinvorgate the importance of Music Videos at all. Umbrella, Disturbia, womanizer and Single Ladies all had hype, importance, etc. To them. Not to mention Single Ladies has been a way more iconic video than gaga ever has.

Christina Perri isn't following her footsteps. Adele isn't. Bruno isn't. There are several others.
The problem with artists releasing ballads or something remotely different from the norm is that some people try to dismiss the music as "boring" or question why the music is successful because they are so used to the dance-pop sound that GaGa, Ke$ha and the like are popular for. Then this whole dumb argument about what's "real" music starts.

Don't hink HIAM is just an average pop track. The lyrics yes but why the hell the lyrics are even discussed. But before the song, no one has ever tried to incorporate dubstep, grime and garage to a mainstream pop song.
And diversity is still there, some people just need to look further.

um dubstep is definitly by all means different and experimental. Not one other song on radio has any dubstep in it at all.

I think we are mostly discussing radio/Billboard success, not whether the diversity is around to be listened to. I spend all my time finding new music, so I listen to a lot of diverse music. But mainstream success has become more limited.

Yes. Mainstream pop has never been so dominant like these times.

That's what I meant by "with the help of others before & after her". The Bad Romance video set a higher standard for making music videos again. It raised the bar, & became arguably iconic. It leads the packs of the other videos you listed. And SL video is not more iconic than the BR video IMO, but this is not the thread for that.

Yes but dubstep is still a dance sub-genre. Just because GaGa uses industrial dance on Scheisse doesn't mean that she is being experimental. It just means she isn't using the EXACT same beat as everyone else. The structure, lyrics, and overall Dr Lukeness was still there, making it not as different as people thing. And FYI that is my fave song of the year, so I am not shading it. But I recognize that it is not experimental.

I gotta feeling has a few minor urban elements because their core fanbase is urban, they changed their sound up for The E.n.d which payed off handsomely. I know what you're saying though.
