The last time I checked, selling 52.9(53) million albums wasn't being a "flop", or that selling 25 million albums off of just releasing four studio albums is being a flop, either, which Britney has yet to sell 15.7 million post-Britney.

First of all, Britney can only be the Princess of Pop. She's had a great and hugely successful career but if you truly think she's earned the right of being the QUEEN just because she's successful, you're kidding yourself.

Secondly, I do believe that Madonna still holds the title. A few eras of underperformance can't take away from her mammoth career and she's still going strong at what she does. She is the Queen of Pop. She invented the art of pop and the pop girls today are only mimicking.

Thirdly, that title should go to one of the girls who mimic that type of career. I'm pretty sure Beyonce doesn't need to get other people's titles. She's not a "new" anyone despite being the best of many. She's been inspired by so many sources and it all comes together magically in this one beast of a performer and really she should be called The Queen of the Stage. No one works it as hard today and I've not seen anyone work it as hard in the past. There are countless other great performers of this generation as well, but to me, Beyonce has a spark that no one else has.

Madonna is Queen Of Pop. Always will be. Noone will ever change the game and influence western culture the way she did back in the day. She still manages to break records, even today. Maybe her sales aren't what they used to be but someone's album debuting at number one with 350,000 copies sold with no promo, holding the record for the most watched television segment in history, and for having one of the highest grossing tours of all time, at 54 years old, 30 years into her career, shows the reason why Madonna is still the queen, whether people want to admit that or not.

Britney will always be the princess of pop. She changed the game as well (most popstars performances today are still based off of hers from the 90's and early 00's) but she didn't do it as much as Madonna did.

As much as I love Bey, I'm not delusional. She's no successor. She's a fantastic performer but she's not done much to really change the landscape and keep it that way the way Madonna and Britney managed to.

She's certainly changed the R&B landscape though. There are very few R&B singers who don't cite Beyonce or DC as an influence/inspiration. And that extends way past that one genre too.

I think part of the reason she hasn't really dramatically changed things is because no one can really do it like she can. Remember all the Beyonce-clones between 2003-2006? Until they realized that it's not working and stopped trying. The Madonna-type star is much easier to replicate. Then again, no one really has changed the landscape in a long while. Have they?
