Out of curiosity, I wonder if the #BlackLivesMatter movement has asked Ben Carson what his thoughts on it are? I know he really has about 0.00002% chance of being the POTUS, but I think it would probably be interesting to see how he balances trying to appeal to black voters (which the GOP is always trying and failing) vs trying to appeal to republican voters

So who are these bitches? They were literally still yelling and screaming in their faces even after the guy said he would give them the mic. I hate protesters with no real cause or goal besides "rocking the boat" like what did they accomplish by interrupting the rally of the most liberal candidate with a display of ****ery?

I'm just so mad that this is making headlines/news everywhere. It puts the whole movement back and now people won't take it as seriously as they should. This stupid group of individuals completely ruined the cause. Any time people mention #blacklivesmatter, they will be a talking point when they shouldn't even be in the first place.
God, some people are so dumb and don't realize how they look to others. Get some introspection.

And that's exactly why the gay rights movement has come so much farther than black issues post-civil rights era, in such a short time. I mean, from 2004 when Obama took the popular stance on gay marriage ("I believe marriage is between a man & a woman") to when he was desperate during the 2012 election (only 8 years) and again took the popular stance, this time being pro-gay marriage, that's a huge turn around. Because at the end of the day, your objective isn't all that matters, the way that the message is delivered does too. Even people on the far right like Bill O'Reilly agree, regardless of what you feel about the gay rights issue as a whole, gay rights proponents did an immaculate job at making their case to everyone. Pointing out how opposing them was discrimination and oppression, and pointing out the injustices done to them all over the world, and then asking for help, and welcoming those willing to help us as allies. A huge chunk of this recent BLM movement, certain trans or feminist movements, etc, adopt such an antagonizing tone, and spread their message throwing around obscure terms like "white feminism" and such, that it's hard to imagine a huge amount of people being convinved to support their cause. Movements like this are meant to reach people who otherwise wouldn't be exposed to your message and sway them to consider your world view, not make them feel like a horrible person who ONLY contributes to your oppression and can never understand what it's like to be black/gay/trans/female/etc, so shouldn't even bother. A lot of it just feels like venting frustrations, rather than a concentrated political effort to achieve social (and in the case of women, and indeed blacks) economic/socioeconomic change.
Additionally, there's a non-negligible portion of this online BLM trend that seem more like they just want to start a separatist movement, nothing a non-black person says or does can satisfy them. I mean, Bernie literally said she can speak during his rally, and that still wasn't enough. Supporting them and being white also apparently isn't enough, as you're a filthy "white liberal" or "white feminist", etc. With their attitudes, it seems like only solution is presenting a candidate themselves to run for office, or separating and starting their own thing. And that's not coming from a "go back to africa!!1" place, it's coming from a "if having a (centrist who panders to the right wing) black president didn't satisfy you, and having a candidate who has openly supported your cause even before pressured to/(insert ancient civil rights march pic)/(insert jesse jackson support)/fights for the lower class which blacks disproportionately fall into/etc, maybe it's time to figure something else out". Something more productive.

Couldn't have said it better
I really don't want this to derail Bernie's campaign. Hopefully this backfires, and gives him the wider press coverage that he hasn't got as much thus far, and just gives him a bigger platform for his views.

If they where Latinos representing an actual noble cause that was for the benefit of a community, I'd be embarrassed. It's not racist to say they acted ghetto. Get over it. ghetto is ghetto. Those girls seem paranoid and obviously hate white people.. It's so transparent how insecure and paranoid they are. They need to own up to their shortcomings and not blame everything on that they are black and the race card.

Mte. All this does is give more fuel to the people who are looking for a reason to discredit black people even more. Judging by a majority of the posts in this thread, it's working. I really hate being a black man on this planet. Space colonization needs to hurry up and get here so I can gtfo here. We really get no respect in this world.
And we finally have some candidates on our side and are here for our cause, only to get two idiots who don't know what they're doing ****ing it all up again. They are single-handedly helping dismantle the noble #blacklivesmatter movement and tarnishing the black community's reputation even MORE. Watch this mess light up headlines everywhere next week. The media is looking for any reason to discredit the black community. This will only fan the flames.

BLM isn't some organized PAC, like PETA, NOW, or GLAD. It's the racial equivalent of "Occupy Wall Street." Anyone can claim to represent BLM. So, making all these generalizations because of a couple of wayward zealots at a stump speech is pretty stupid and short sighted. I really wish some of you would stop trotting out these BS comparisons between race and LGBT issues. Let's get this straight. Race is far more apparent, cogent, and more threatening to white patriarchy than sexual orientation. Black people aren't pulled over by the police at disproportionate rates than whites because the cops suspected them of being gay. Unless you can pass, you do not get to "come out of the closet" as black. Any LGBT black person is a black person first and all that means in this country, including having to deal with racism in the LGBT community.
It's convenient to say that the reason behind gains made for LGBT rights have resulted because of "immaculate" PR as if white America doesn't have more of a vested interest in gay rights than it does black issues because of identity politics. Racism, identity politics, sexism, poverty, etc., these are the problems hindering black, civil rights, not POC's taking white feminists to task when slighted or any of your other tone arguments.

What a mess and how disrespectful of them. Out of all the people they chose Bernie Sander's event to shut down. He is probably the least deserving of this. They should have at least picked some ignorant republican's event.
And there are better ways of doing this and spreading the message. No one is going to take them seriously if this is the way they are going to go about it. Morons!!

First, let's stop mentioning the fact that Bernie was an activist during the Civil Rights Movement as if blacks are supposed to drop down to their knees to him because of it.
Anyway, maybe you'll get 'em next time, Bern!
