Just because you don't think they deserve it doesn't mean they don't
No, they aren't superstars yet but they ARE making a name for themselves and are up and coming artists

When JoJo debuts (hopefully she will since today's show wasn't live), she'll knock them down to 5. Jesse McCartney can get her them down to 6 (if he debuts that is; I think his song is crap). Ciara can make a comeback and she can push them down to 7 after Step Up gets released. Chamillionaire's song should have a decent amount of popularity when it gets a first look, and I can definently see that going Top 5. If all these things happened, Chemicals React would be pushed to number eight by mid-August. Will that happen? I can't say for sure, and neither can anybody else (except maybe the rig masters over at MTV...). There's going to be more First Looks, Pre-RLs, and World Premieres (more than there should be... I doubt there's going to be a retired video for awhile.)
High School Musical's INSANE popularity actually gave Disney the rights to produce more music, which is helping Hollywood Records to rerelease Into The Rush, and I heard Billy Ray Cyrus (the Achy Breaky Heart man)'s daughter got signed. I agree that these girls are up and coming, but it's for the Radio Disney audience.
As far as making a name for themselves... nobody has heard Chemicals React outside of TRL and Radio Disney.
Anyways, I think Aly & AJ's opinionated comments towards evolution where uncalled for, albeit acceptable since they do not attend public school.
