^^ The Dixie Chicks had a fraction of their previous mega successes with their last album and "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice", though still surprisingly robust given the level of backlash from country radio. They haven't broken up thankfully and I'm looking forward to hearing some new material from them.

^^ P!nk was building up her now rock-solid Australian fanbase around 2006 and a sizeable chunk of the feverish rah-rah U.S. jingoism, etc. had died down by that point so Dear Mr. President didn't make nearly as much of a fuss

^^ As for Madonna, I know this may seem like a stretch, but I honestly think American Life did her in on Top 40 for good (solo, that is), seeing as the corporate board for ClearChannel are notorious social conservatives (don't have the energy for receipts) and age didn't hurt her in the "Music" era. The excuses ClearChannel gave for Confessions' radio boycott about her missing the "urban" train were complete BS, IMO.

I agree, I think she would have had at least 2-3 more #1's on the Hot 100 if she hadn't pissed off TPTB's at CC with that album.

I did know that (pro-U,S. sentiment had died down quite a bit even in the U.S. at this point) BUT it's so much one of the "political" songs I remember fondly from the Bush era,

Again, most of the world wished the same thing back then. The US ruined global relations and still does, though not as bad.

Bush did horrible things for this country, and I can't say I blame Psy or the rest of the world for feeling this way.
