DLB is still a public figure, though. How would it look for the American press if he was ever caught palling around with a 16-year-old Tom, a person he has no need to connect with since he's not in the Hollywood business (yet)?
I'm not arguing that he was just counting down the days, but I'm just giving a little pushback on why it wouldn't make sense to snatch him up at 16 or 17 in the first place. +, Tom's helicopter father was still around at the time.

I agree, I don't think he just wants to find the youngest **** he can but I do think the age disparity is big, and the disparity in life experience even bigger. That last point is really the core as to why I feel the situation is manipulative.
