I know She doesn't make "popular" enough sounding music though so it's understanding that she isn't popular, but I feel like she is my own special secret () because my friends don't know who she is

Yeah, no one (I know) knows who Skylar is. I do, however, find it odd how no one knows who she is yet her album is in my top 5 most anticipated albums. Obviously she's doing something semi-right, right?

I tried turning my friends on to her and they all thought she was too "dark". Which I guess is kind of true but I really love her dark stuff.

Yes it is sad how underrated she is. She is so talented - vocally, instrumentally, she creates incredible melodies & has a great lyrics. Interscope doesn't give her any promo which is sad and reminds me of Nelly Furtado situation, hopefully she pulls better numbers
With the right treatment she could be pulling at least Lana-ish numbers, maybe even better because she is a bit more mainstream than Lana.
