I'm actually enjoying the controversy, and I know that's a horrible thing to say. But! I find it interesting how we society put these celebrities on pedestals to just then eventually try and destroy them, I say this because from day one we knew Gaga was sexually charged with humping a Killer Whale in her Just Dance music video, and The Fame literally was full of sexual metaphors but the moment somebody puts those metaphors into action, we're taken aback? It's quite ironic really that we're all quite happy to listen to Do What U Want for example, a song without reading into it's actual message quite obviously states you can Do What U Want with her body. All in all it's harmless controversy, it's funny how American culture and pop culture in general works, and that's what makes it really just harmless, it's not effecting anyone, it isn't corrupting. She is just pushing boundaries, which is really nothing new for pop culture.
The only reason I feel bad about the whole thing, is not because of the content, but how Gaga must feel. She shelved it for a reason, reasons which are now quite obvious, it looked like a fun video. And she shouldn't have to be apologetic, but I just don't want her to feel like a joke. Or a laughing stock, for something she quite simply wasn't proud of. Sometimes we don't always deliver the best of us in our work and in life in general. But that's just me over thinking it, cause really it looked like a fun, colorful video that really would've took DWUW to the top 10. If not top 5. And haven't you all over the last 4 years been asking for that colorful side of Gaga that was The Fame?..
