And I'm not saying October isnt too far but it has a better chance as far as success being released then than it does on the 17th because she hasnt even started doing any promotion for it and it would have been out in less than a month. That really is what would have been unacceptable.

I just don't like the fact that they set dates, she's on tracks yelling out "August 17th", there's hype/buzz around it, singles doing well, and no leaks (except the ones that were leaked purposely) when they know they aren't prepared.

It will because she will have the time to have built up a solid Mainstream hit which is crucial for her sales. And They wouldnt have been able to build off of Ride EITHER WAY since it would have been out 4 months on the August 17 date anyway.

Ride has done really well but that alone isnt substantial enough to make a HUGE impact on album sales, the next single is REALLY what is going to be crucial for sales and it needs to have enough time to make an impact across MULTIPLE FORMATS which usually takes a little more time so Thats why I really dont see the timing as THAT bad.

"Ride" has been slowly building her hype since APRIL. These remixes and appearances have continued to build it. "Ride" has finally made it in the Top 50, but now starting to fall on airplay and people think a pushback will work? Ciara ISN'T going to make a huge impact on sales, so why are anyone's expectations even really that high? "Ride" is enough of a solid hit to sell her in the Urban market...all they need is to go ahead and release "Gimme Dat" NOW, why they playing around IDK, and put her on a promotional tour. The numbers will be exceptional, and they'll have to keep working for longevity.

This pushback will only get the blogs talking **** again, giving the album bad reputation after so long of building up positive hype with "Ride", and will make people not even care.

I'm hoping this is NOT true though, cause surely more blogs [especially more reliable] would be reporting.

A multi-format hit is not guaranteed, and a multi-format OR pop hit doesn't necessarily guarantee strong album sales. Right now, Ciara's hype is building, so the label should take advantage of that. By the time October comes around, more artists will probably release something that will overshadow Ciara. I mean, Beyonce could be dropping a single around that time. Push backs are rarely ever good.
