He's 67, which really isn't that old. By all accounts and according to him he's also in good health. He is overweight though and has a really big problem with writers block. I'm fully confident that The Winds of Winter will come out, written by him and no one else, somewhere within the next two years (he apparently has hundreds of pages and dozens of chapters done.). I don't know about A Dream of Spring, but I don't like to think of that because I find it to be a kind of cruel line of thinking.
I'm sure the added pressure of all the fans waiting and now the adaptation taking over the storyline isn't helpful with his anxiety. But hopefully he'll get it done. I know that I'm not going to be watching the next seasons unless the books are out. Generally speaking I always preferred the books.
I don't really care about the 'spoiler' aspect of it (I watched the show before I ever picked up the books) but I never had that reverse experience of reading the book and then watching it happen on screen.
Here's hoping he manages it *lights candle and says a little prayer to the lord of light*
