It was inevitable. Madonna is the Queen, the original. Gaga has yet to pay her dues. It is a lot easier to pick on her because she hasn't overcome the biggest hurdle - time. They did it to Madonna at some point too. To make matters worse for Gaga, BTW was seen as the era Gaga copied Madonna The comparisons used to be flattering, now they are negative. But it is a great thing. Surviving media backlash is the best part. I like to think Gaga predicted her own fate in the Paparazzi video

They have performers for opening and closing ceremonies but it's usually artists from that country that perform and I don't remember it ever being a huge a-list star
