Can't blame her. Her labels want that Girlfriend success back.

So sad but so true

I almost feel Avril's been typeset with Girlfriend, hence why RCA tried to recreate it with WTH/Smile, and now Epic tried to do it with HTNGU/RnR. When are they going to realize this sound isn't going to sell anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love this sound and I'm happy the new record has these songs on (i.e Sippin On Sunshine), but as for singles they really need to start thinking outside the box. I'm glad they've taken a risk with Let Me Go and I hope it's at least moderately successful, so they don't feel the need to keep releasing Pop/Rock anthems.
The GP is fickle, and they can be stanning for something one minute, and hating on it the next. The saying "5 minutes of fame" comes to mind and it's very true. I guess the key to commercial success is reinvention, and that's how Madonna did it for so long. That's why "Girlfriend" was so big, and look how well it's worked for Miley.
Tbh though, I really don't care about commercial success. Avril's made her $$$ and she will keep making money from everything. I'm just happy she's making and releasing music that she believes in, that's the most important thing.
